Yuma, Arizona is sometimes called the Winter Salad Bowl. That’s because many vegetables
are grown in Yuma, where the weather is warm enough to grow vegetables in the winter months.
There’s also a lot of sun in Yuma. It’s called the sunniest place on Earth. It doesn’t rain much in
Yuma, but there is a big river there. Farmers in Yuma grow a lot of lettuce. They grow almost all the
lettuce in the USA! They grow iceberg, leaf, romaine, and baby lettuce. They also grow spinach.
Thousands of workers pick the lettuce. On some days, 1,000 trucks leave Yuma full of lettuce!
