This document is based on the standards of the People’s Republic of China. If the
on-site situation is inconsistent with the document, refer to the local standards and
regulations.
To maintain a favorable working environment and prolong the servic e life for the
equipment, keep the proper temperature and humidity in the equipment room.
The equipment room shall be free from explosive, conducting, permeability magnetic
and corrosive dust as well as corrosive gas, such as SO2, H2S, NH3, etc.

To meet the above requirements, take the following measures in the equipment room.
Use the perennial temperature-control device no matter what the local climate is.
Mop the ground on a timed basis or use a humidifier to keep the proper humidity
in the equipment room in the dry area.
Use the dehumidifier in the place where the humidity if high.
Apply dustproof materials for ground, wall and ceiling construction.
Equip screens for the door and windows facing outside. The outer windows
should be dust-proof.
Clean the equipment room periodically, and clean the air filter quarterly.
Wear the shoe covers and ES D-preventive clot hes before entering the
equipment room.
A void constructing the equipment room near the place where the corrosive gas
concentration is high, such as a chemical plant.
Make sure the air intake vent of the equipment room is in the perennial upwind
direction of the pollution source.
Install the batteries into the room different from the communications equipment.
Ask the professional institute to monitor the corrosive gas conditions.

Although plenty of measures for ESD prevention have been taken on the device, it still
shall be cautious about static charge because it may damage the board even the
devic e when the electrostatic voltages reaches to a limit.
To meet the requirement, take the following measures in the equipment room.
Train operators to the knowledge of ESC prevention.
Raise the humidity to 60% or above to reduce the influence of static electricity.
Use the antistatic floor in the equipment room. When entering the equipment
room, wear ESD-preventive shoes, work clothes, and wrist strap.
Keep the device and the floor in good connection.
Keep the room dust-proof.
Place the withdrawn circuit board in antistatic workbench or antistatic bags.
When obs erving or moving a withdrawn circuit board, touch it at the outer edge.
Do not directly touch the components on the circuit board with hands.
Interference sources, no matter arising from the interior or exterior of the device, are
all harmful to the device in the form of capacitive coupling, inductance coupling,
electromagnetic radiation or common-impedance coupling. To meet the
anti-interference requirement, you shall:
Take effective measures on your power supply system to avoid interferences
from power lines.
Use a separat e grounding or lightning proof grounding for the device and power
equipment and keep them as far away from each other as possible.
Keep the device far away from superpower radio-transmitting station,
radar-transmitting station and HF& High-c urrent device.
Perform electromagnetic shielding if necessary.
Although plenty of lightning proof measures have been taken in the design of the
devic e, it is possible to damage the device if the lightning intensity reaches to a certain
limit.

The A C power supply system consists of mains, Unint errupted Power Supply (UPS)
and electric generat or set. It supplies power in an integrated mode. The low-voltage
power supply system uses three-phase five-wire mode or mono-phase three-wire
mode. Table B-3 lists the requirements for the nominal voltage and frequency of the
low-voltage A C.
110/127/220/380(V) 50 Hz
The network product uses the continuous power supply, such as UPS, for the AC
backup power supply. The A C backup power supply is in the same phase with the
mains. The UPS/mains switchover time is less than 10 ms, others, the equipm ent may
be restart ed or reset.
In determining the AC capacity in the equipment room, you need take int o account the
working current and fault current. Independent equipment must have an independent
AC distribution protection device. The protection switch configuration must be great er
than that of the electricity device.
In designing the DC power supply system, you need take into account the maximum
payload in dynamic and static conditions. Besides, you have to reserve the margin.
The cabling in the power distribution panel must be figured out based on the
maximum capacity of the supplied power supply payload. In this way, you can decide
the type and size of the conducting wire.
The following lists the specific requirements for the voltage of A C communications
equipment and power equipment:
For the communications equipment adopts AC power supply, the voltage range
is: rated value-10% to rated value+5%.
For the power equipment and important buildings, use the A C power supply. The
allowed voltage range is: rated voltage value-15% to rated voltage value+10%.
The permitted AC frequency fluctuation ranges “frequency ±4%”. The sinusoidal
distortion rate of the voltage waveform is smaller than or equal to 5%.

remot e control,
remot e measurement
standard interface and communication protocols.
The following lists the specific requirements for the A C and DC power cable:
The AC neutral for communications must use the conducting wire that has the
same cross section as the phase cable.
Select the DC power feeder according to the long-term payload. If the cross
2
section exceeds 95 mm , use the hard bus cable. If there is a great difference
between the recent and long-term payload, make the cabling by stages.
The conducting wire is fire-resistant. Route the conducting wire according to the
local regulations, and set the low-voltage power distribution room according to
the local regulations, too.
Configure the generator set for the office t o ensure the normal communication in case
of mains failure. The capacity of the gen erat or set is greater than or equal to 1.5 –2
times of the continuous power supply equipment.
Connect two sets of storage batteries in parallel. There usually is only one set of UPS
battery, and a set of backup UPS battery should be configured. If the inverter or UPS
is used, select the active invert er that can provide the maximum power. A standby
inverter should be configured.
Place the power equipment near the telecom equipment to make the DC feeder as
short as possible. To reduce the power consumption and installation cost, the loop
voltage drop from the battery port to the equipment port should be smaller than 3.2 V.
Use two or more independent power supply system when the office has heavy traffic
or more than two switching systems.

Configure multiple power supply systems in different floors for the l arge-scale office.
They supply power respectively to different equipment rooms.
Configure a centralized power room or battery room for the office wit h medium traffic,
or adopt the distributed power supply mode.
Use the integrated power supply for the o ffice with small traffic. Note to prevent the
corrosive gas released by the battery from eroding the circuit board.
Item Index
DC power capacity to support the Greater than 1.5 times of the rated current at
surge current least
Adopt the dispersed power supply mode. Use multiple DC power supply systems
and set power equipment in multiple positions.
Adopt the standard DC power supply system, and set the output voltage of the
communications equipment to fall within the required range.
Improve the reliability of the AC power supply system, and reduce the storage
batteries. For the small offices, add more storage batteries if it is difficult to
enhance the reliability of the AC power supply system.
The total capacity of the high-frequency switch rectifier must satisfy the power of
the communication loading and battery charging.

Configure the backup rectifier modules. If there are no more than 10 active
modules, configure one backup module. If there are more than 10 active
modules, configure one backup module for every 10 active modules.
Install the storage batteries in two or more groups. The capacity is determined by
the duration when the storage batteries supply power to the load. For most
offices, the batteries should be able to supply power for one hour at least.
