Task 1: The graph below shows the number of overseas visitors to three different areas in a
European country between 1987 and 2007. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting
the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Task 2: Some countries achieve international success by building specialised facilities to train top

The graph compares the number of foreign travellers that visited three different types of areas in a
particular European country over a twenty year period from 1987 to 2007.

Overall, coastal areas attracted the largest amount of foreign tourists in most years of the survey,
while mountainous areas appeared to be the least popular for the most part. In addition, the
number of tourists travelling to all three areas increased over the period.
In 1987, around 40,000 foreign travellers visited the coast of this European country. This figure
dropped slightly to around 35,000 visitors in 1992, after which it began to rise, reaching
approximately 75,000 visitors in 2007. Meanwhile, the number of foreign travellers visiting the
mountains fluctuated between 20,000 and 30,000 during the first half of the period, before rising
further to around 35,000 tourists in 2007.

The number of foreign tourists visiting the lakes of this country continually rose over the first fifteen
years of the period, peaking at 75,000 visitors in 2002. However, this figure began to drop
significantly in the remaining years, reaching 50,000 visitors in 2007.

TASK 2

Bài mẫu tham khảo

In many countries around the world, specialised sporting facilities for top-level athletes are
prioritised over those that cater to the general public. Although providing such facilities for
everyone to use is extremely important, I believe that providing specialised facilities for high-level
athletes is still a positive development.

On one hand, providing sport and exercise facilities for general public use allows people to enjoy
the benefits that playing sport and doing exercise brings, which ultimately benefits a country  as a
whole in the long term. When given adequate facilities and equipment, citizens are able to improve
their health and wellbeing by doing exercise and playing sport. By improving the overall health
of the general population, a country will have less healthcare costs and a higher level of happiness
and wellbeing amongst its citizens. Furthermore, by giving children better access to sports facilities,
a higher number of young people are likely to excel in sport, giving the country a better chance at
producing high-level athletes specialised facilities to improve their performance to a world class
level.
In conclusion, although sporting facilities for the general public are highly important, for those
countries wishing to produce top-level athletes, specialised training facilities are of much higher
importance.
