ASSESSMENT 3: Pitch Session (Flexibility in school uniform)

Topic: Flexibility in school uniform

Introduction/Attention The national school uniform remained a
getter:
requirement for all primary and secondary
school students in Malaysia since its first
introduction by the British missionaries in the
nineteenth century. As part of a national school
uniform policy, all primary and secondary
school students in Malaysia are required to
wear a standardized uniform when attending
school. Although specific badges identify the
school that each student attends, and there are
different versions for males as well as Muslim
and non-Muslim females, students all over the
country are required to wear essentially the
same outfits.
Problem/ Issue: -Expensive

All parents face financial difficulties as they

need to buy school uniform and supplies for
their children. Every year school uniform be a
burden to all parent.

-Uncomfortable

The Flexibility in school uniform also need

because Malaysia’s weather become hot and
all government school provide good facilities
to make sure student comfortable in this
weather. Most schools require students to tuck
their shirts in and wear ties which can be really
uncomfortable as it gets warmer.
Proposal Ministry of Education Committee should
change the national school uniform policy to
student can wear any attire as long as it is
decent and suitable.
Solution: Ministry of Education Committee should to
give students the flexibility to dress freely
decently as what is practised in public
universities.School uniform should not be a
burden to parents. Schools should give their
students guidelines as to what is acceptable
and what is not, but allow them to be
individuals. This is why I think schools should
eliminate uniforms and stick to a (reasonable
and non-sexist) dress code.
Justification for the A case study conducted by Wade and Stafford
solution:
back in the year 2003, shows that there is no
evidence indicating that a uniform policy
increases academic achievement. From the
year 2000 onwards, some schools worldwide
are agreeing to the fact that uniforms are not
for students of the 21st-century and have
moved away from uniform policies.

Our economic not in good condition since Not

everyone can afford to buy new school
uniform and school shoes every year. That
money can instead be used to pay school fees
and study materials.

Such hot weather can trigger harmful

heatwaves that are detrimental to health. As we
know always  prioritises the welfare, health,
and safety of students, teachers and
administrators during the country’s hot spell
and prolonged drought. We need give
flexibility to student in school uniform to make
sure the comfortable because all school at
Malaysia cant provide good facilities in this
weather. Furthermore two cases were reported
in Kelantan that have led to the deaths of two
children due to severe dehydration and
heatstroke. Three other cases are in Sarawak
involving two cases of heat cramps and one
case of heat exhaustion.]
Conclusion/ I believe learning how to dress should be part
Reinforce the of the education of all young adults but If
proposal students are uniformed, they cannot
experiment and express their personalities.
School uniforms should be abolished and give
the flexibility like student at university.
