Reactors

• Reactors used in pharmaceutical industry are usually Batch

Reactors.
• Stainless Steel Reactor and Glass lined Reactor are commonly used
in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Stainless Steel reactors are used for Neutral Reactions and offer
Good Heat Transfer.
• Glass Lined reactor are used for acidic or basic reactions but has
inefficient Heat Transfer and cannot be used
at High or Very low Temperatures.

Stainless Steel Reactor

Salient Features
 Available in capacity ranging from 10 liters to 20,000 liters.
 Constructed in Mild Steel, Stainless Steel and/or Rubber lined according to each
individual requirement.
 High Functional accuracy.
 Dimensional stability through legs or lugs.
 Less maintenance.
 Easy operations & small footprint.
 Temperature resistant.

Glass Lined Reactor

Working
A reactor works by allowing the chemicals into a contained
space and agitating them via the centrally mounted agitator.
The vessel will typically have baffles included to ensure the
sufficient level of turbulence inside to mix / blend the chemicals
and enable the reactor. Normal chemical reactions take place
given the correct catalysts present, the chemicals and pressure
/ temperature conditions and contact time. The end product
could be crystalline or liquid.

Hastelloy Reactor

Salient Features

 Deliver many years of economical service life

 Eliminate expensive downtime due to equipment failure
 Provide outstanding Corrosion Resistance
 Produce high heat transfer efficiency
 Accommodate high steam pressure
 Fully welded metal construction
 Removes possibilities of process fluid leaks

Agitators
• An agitator is a device or mechanism to put something into motion
by shaking or stirring. An agitator has 3parts- Motor , Shaft and
Impeller.
• Different Impellers create different flow types (Axial flow , Radial
Flow , Tangential flow).
1. Paddle Impeller- Produces a laminar low shear flow. Used for low
viscosity liquid mixing. Creates Tangential flow pattern.
2. Anchor Impeller- Creates Tangential flow pattern. Used for
Blending and for Highly viscous liquids.
3. Propeller Impeller- Creates Axial flow pattern. Used for
Homogenization , Dispersion and Suspension of low viscosity
products.
4. Pitched Blade Turbine Impeller –Creates a combination of Axial
and Radial flow pattern. Generates high shear flow appropriate for
mixing.

Dryers
• Dryers are used to remove liquids or moisture from bulk solids ,
powders or other liquids by evaporation or sublimation.
Vaccum Tray Dryer
Salient Features
 Modular Design with high attention to operator health,
safety and access.
 Rounded edges and corners throughout the design
 Sturdy welded external chamber reinforcement ensures
maximum operating protection and dependability under
full vacuum operation
 Hollow pad type baffled heating shelfs
 All shelf to manifold connectors are located outside the
dryer chamber
 Validation ports and nitrogen purge nozzles
 Fluid heating and circulating systems either steam or
electrically heated
 Vapour condensation unit along with a receiver
 Vacuum pump system provided to match customer
requirements.
 Circular and rectangular drying systems ideal for small to
moderate levels of production
 cGMP construction for pharmaceutical models.
Spray Dryers
Salient Features
While there are many drying processes on the market for food, the spray drying
method is distinguished by its unique equipment that enables for speedy drying with
minimal heat exposure. In spray drying, a liquid is sprayed through atomizer into a
chamber that contains streams of hot air. The moisture quickly evaporates, leaving
behind solid powder particles that fall to bottom of the chamber.
The benefits of spray drying are:
 Appropriate for heat-sensitive foods
 Manufactures fairly uniform particle sizes
 Makes a free-flowing powder
 Efficient at encapsulation
Fluidized Bed Dryer
Salient Features
Fluid Bed Dryers play a crucial role in creating a uniform dried
material output – Fluidization results in high moisture removal
rate.

FBDs need low operation and maintenance costs and fewer

human resources to operate and clean the machine. Smooth
automation can thus avoid human oversight.

Customizable batch capacities and controls are essential

features of fluid bed dryers used in flexible production.
Different chemical compounds release moisture at different
temperatures and relative humidity until their maximum
allowable temperature, with different drying times.
To ensure that, parameters like airflow and the feed rate should
be completely controllable by the operator to get the desired
product. Fluid Bed Dryers by Anish Pharma provide control over
airflow & humidity in the drying process of heat-sensitive
materials.

However, fluid bed dryers are not suitable for sticky semisolid
drying material as they need particle’s free movement. In this
case, conventional dryers are ideal for drying sticky
substances.

 Rotocon vaccum dryers

Salient Features

 Low-temperature drying: Rotocon vacuum dryers operate

at low temperatures, which makes them ideal for drying
heat-sensitive materials that are prone to degradation at
high temperatures. The low-temperature drying process
helps to preserve the quality and purity of the products
being dried.
 Vacuum drying: Rotocon vacuum dryers operate under
vacuum, which lowers the boiling point of the moisture
present in the material being dried. This results in faster
drying times, reduced energy consumption, and better
product quality.
 Efficient mixing: Rotocon vacuum dryers have a unique
mixing design that ensures efficient mixing of the material
being dried. The mixing helps to promote even drying and
prevents the formation of lumps or hotspots.
