I.Tenses (present progressive tense with always and past progressive tense)
Trạng từ always có thể được dùng với thì tiếp diễn để diễn tả:
+ Hành động được lặp đi lặp lại trong quá khứ gây cho người nói dực mình,
khó chịu.
ex: I’m always losing things.
My grandmother is always forgetting her umbrella.
II. Past progressive tense:
I /HE/ SHE/ IT /BA..+WAS +V-ing ……a point of time
WE/ YOU/ THEY/A and B …+ WERE + V-ing ..
S + was/ were + V-ing ………WHEN/ WHILE + S + V2 / V-ed
S + was/ were + V-ing ……… WHILE + S + was/ were + V-ing
Ex: Ba was taking a shower at eight o’clock last night.
The Le family was sleeping WHEN the mailman came.
I was reading WHILE my sisters were playing with their dolls.
III. PASSIVE FORMS:
Active form: Ex: They built this house in 1987.
Passive forms: Ex: This house was built in 1987.
General form:
Subject + be + V3/ V-ed ( past participle ) + …by O
Active S Va O

Passive S Vp by + O
( be + V3/ V-ed )
1.Present passive voice (bị động ở thì hiện tại)
-> S+am/ is / are + V3/ V-ed
Ex: Mr. Robinson teaches English.
English is taught by Mr.Robinson.
2.Future passive voice: ( bị động thì tương lai )
-> S+will + be + V3/ V-ed
Ex: We will hold the meeting tonight.
The meeting will be held tonight by us.
I < = > me ; He < = > him ; She < = > her ; We < => us ; they < = > them ;
 Loại bỏ: by someone, by them, by us, by him, by her, by people,
3.Past passive form: ( bị động thì quá khứ )
-> S+ was/ were + V3/ V-ed + by O
Ex: Alexadra invented the telephone.
 The telephone was invented by Alexandra.
4.Present perfect passive voice ( bị động thì hiện tại hoàn thành )
-> S+ has/ have + been + V3/ V-ed
Ex: Someone has painted the door.
 The door has been painted ( by someone )
IV. Requests with “ mind: “phiền”
+ Would/ Do you mind + V-ing ?
 Ex: Would / Do you mind sitting in the front door?
+ Would you mind if I + V2/ V-ed (past tense:thì qúa khứu )
Ex: Would you mind if I took a photo?
Would you mind if I smoked here?
+ Do you mind if I + V (present tense: thì hiện taị )
Ex: Do you mind if I sit here?
V. Statements in reported speech
Eg: " I am living here with my family now": said Nam
->Nam said that he was living there with his family then.
Form: S + Said (that) + S + V(infinitive) +..........
Ex: “ I am a doctor.”

-> He said he was a doctor. ( be )

Ex: “ I live in Cam My” said she

-> She said she lived in Cam My. ( live )

Indirect questions : S + asked + someone + If/ whether + statement.
Mary asked me, “Do you want to visit London?”
 Mary asked me if/whether I wanted to visit London
Ex: “ Is My Son in Quang Nam province?

-> Mary asked me if / whether My Son was in Quang Nam province.

Ex: “ Do you know My Son?

-> Nhi asked Nga if (whether ) she knew My Son.

Question words before to-infinitives Wh-word + to-infinitivo
Trong lời nói gián tiếp, động từ nguyên mẫu có to (to-infinitive) có thể được
dùng sau các từ để hỏi What, when, where, who…(nhưng thường không theo
sau why)
Những động từ thường đứng trong cấu trúc này là: tell, show, point out, learn
Ex: He told me what to do.
He showed us how to open the box.
He pointed out where to get ticket.
VII. Adjectives followed by an infinitive or a noun clause
a. To infinitive: Sau tính từ trong cáu truc câu nhán manh vời chủ ngữ giả It
It + be + adjective + to infinitive
Ex : It’s difficult to learn Japanese .
It’s nice to talk to you .
b. Noun clause (That clause)
delighted, glad, pleased, relivered, sorry, afraid, anxious, worried, confident,
certain. . .
Subject + be + adjective + noun clause (that clause)
Ex : I am delighted that you pass your exam
I am afraid that I can’t accept this assignment.
