Darak: S + was/were + Ving

Ex: I was learning English at 5 yesterday.
Note: Past Con.ni ishlatish uchun gapda yesterday + at (5) bo’lishi shart.
Agar
aniq vaqt ishlatilmaa fe’l zamoni Past Simple da Bo’ladi.
Ex: I learnt English yesterday.

Inkor: S + was/were + not + Ving

Ex: I was not listening to you. I was just drawing.

So’roq: General – Was/were + S + Ving?

Ex: Were you going to the cinema?
Yes, I was / No, I was not (wasn’t)

Special – WHQ + was/were + S + Ving?

Ex: Where were you going at 12 yesterday?

Usage
1) O’tgan zamondagi aniq bir payda davom etayotgan ish-harakat.
Ex: I was living in India this time last year.
This time last year I was living in India.
What were you doing at 2 yesterday?

2) Paytni V2 yoki was/were bilan tasvirlasak, keyingi gap Past Con da

bo’ladi.
Ex: It was evening. We were having dinner.
It was 12 a.m. I was washing dishes.

3) Joyni V2 yoki was/were bilan tasvirlasak, keyingi gap Past Con da bo’ladi.
Ex: We were at college. We were doing lessons.
They were in the garden. They were picking up fruits.
He was in the lesson. He was doing his homework.

4) O’tgan zamondagi shikoyat va tanbeh uchun: forever, constantly,

continually, always. S + was/were + signals + Ving
Ex: When I saw Farruh. He was always laughing at us.
5) Time signals:
Yesterday at 5 o’clock/at that moment
From 5 till 8
All day long
The whole evening
This time last week(month, year)
Yesterday morning/evening
At night/midnight/noon
6) Qo’shma gaplarda:
A) While/As + past con, past simple
Ex: While I was going to shopping, I met Tom.
I heard a noise as I was sleeping.
I saw Lola as I was going to school.

B) While/As + past con, past con.

( 2 ish-harakat davom etishi)
Ex: Lola was reading as I was cooking a meal.
While they were working in the garden, I was watching them.
While ladies were talking to each other, gentlemen were playing cards.

C) When + past simple, past cont.

Ex: When I saw Ann, She was walking along the road.
They were watching TV when I phoned them.
When the match started, I was going there.
Note: Agar biz qo’shma gaplarni so’roq gapga aylantirmoqchi bo’lsak, bosh
gap (bog’lovchisiz qism) gap boshiga chiqadi hamda maxsus yoki umumiy
1gap yasaladi.
Ex: What were you doing when I called you?
Were you out when Tom arrived?
Did you burnt yourself while you were cooking?
Where were you going when I saw you?
Who was standing when the teacher entered the room?

D) when + past con, Past simple

Ex: when he was walking down the street, I went out.

E) While/As + past simple + past simple

Ex: While I worked, he wrote e letter.
As I walked along the street, he rode a bike.
When I met her, she told me about it.
Note: still qo’shma gaplarda past con bilan ishlaydi.
Ex: When I arrived home, my mother was still playing a ball.
