1. China Quiz
On September 21st, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was proclaimed. The country
has seen huge changes over the last 55 years, but 55 years is but a mere moment in the
5,000-year history of China. Recently China picked up 32 gold medals at the 2004
Athens Olympics and in 2008 Beijing will host the Olympic Games. This week we
celebrate the achievements of this immense country in a general knowledge quiz.
Level:
Good Intermediate and upwards
2. Give each group a copy of the worksheet and a time limit of 10-15 minutes to discuss
possible answers to the questions. You may prefer to give your students the list of links
on the next page and ask them to find the answers by visiting the relevant web sites.
3. Go through the answers in open class. Each group scores one point for a correct
answer. There are 20 possible points.
