Task 1.

Three Deped Secretary who made use/ advocates of Perennial Philosophy


1. Leonor Briones is one of the Education Secretary of the Philippines. She
assumed office in 2016 under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.
She focused on implementing of Technical Vocational Education and Training
(TVET)as she recognized the importance of working in synergy with TESDA.
2. Bro. Armin Luistro - He served as the Education Secretary from 2010 to 2016
under the administration of President Benigno Aquino III. During his term as
Education Secretary, he focused on implementing the K-12 Basic Education
Program and the Alternative Learning Program expanding access to education,
and improving the quality of education in the country.
3. Edilberto de Jesus- He served during the term of former President Gloria
Macapagal-Arroyo. Implemented the program National Service Training Program
is a civic education program that is designed to develop students' sense of social
responsibility and national identity.

The Department of Education in the Philippines has a number of educational


programs and initiatives that align with the principles of perennialism. Here are
some of the few:
a. K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum DepEd Order No. 43, s. 2013; : The K to
12 Basic Education Curriculum. The program includes a focus on core subjects
such as mathematics, science, English, and social studies, which aligns with
perennialism's emphasis on enduring knowledge.
b. Alternative Learning System (ALS) DepEd order no. 013, s. 2019: The
Alternative Learning System. The program emphasizes the development of
critical thinking skills, self-directed learning, and moral character, which aligns
with perennialism's emphasis on developing the whole person.
c. Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) DepEd
MEMORANDUM s. 2009. No. 498, s. To: 1. Implementing under the K-12
Program. This focus on practical skills and competencies aligns with
perennialism's emphasis on the importance of practical skills and the acquisition
of knowledge that is relevant and applicable to real-world situations.
d. National Service Training Program (NSTP): The National Service Training
Program Republic Act No. 9163, which was signed into law on January 23,
2002is a civic education program that is designed to develop students' sense of
social responsibility and national identity. The program includes three
components: The Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC). The program
emphasizes the development of moral character, leadership skills, and social
responsibility, which aligns with perennialism's emphasis on developing engaged
and responsible members of society.
Overall, these educational programs and initiatives in the Philippines
Department of Education demonstrate a commitment to perennialism's emphasis
on developing critical thinking skills, moral character, and enduring knowledge.

Task 2. Three Principal /School Heads of my school who made use/ advocates of Perennial
Philosophy. Here are the following:
a. Rustico S. Pelonio Jr.- Principal lll of General Santos City National High School
(2018- Present). An advocate of Perennial philosophy adapted the program of the
school. We have this program in our school right now. K to 12 Basic Education
Curriculum, Alternative Learning System (ALS) and the Technical Vocational
Education and Training (TVET).
b. Leonardo S. Genoguin – Principal ll of General Santos City National High School
(2015-2018) An advocate of Perennial philosophy adapted the program of the
school. We have this program in our school in his time. K to 12 Basic Education
Curriculum, Alternative Learning System (ALS) and the Technical Vocational
Education and Training (TVET).
c. Angelito C. Llanos -Principal ll of General Santos City National High School
(2011-2015) An advocate of Perennial philosophy adapted the program of the
school. We have this program in our school Alternative Learning System (ALS)
and the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and National Service
Training Program (NSTP).
