Daily Lesson Plan
I. OBJECTIVES
A. CONTENT The learner demonstrates understanding key concepts of quadratic
STANDARD equations of quadratic equations, inequalities and functions and
rational algebraic equations.
B. PERFORMACE The learner is able to investigate thoroughly mathematical
STANDARDS relationships in various situations, formulate real-life problems
involving quadratic equations, inequalities and functions, and
rational algebraic equations and solve them using a variety of
strategies.
C. MOST ESSENTIAL The learner analyzes the effects of changing the values of

COMPETENCY the properties of the quadratic function with or without the use of
technology.
M9-NA-ld-1( # 6 Revised MELCS)
D. UNPACKED The learner should be able to:
MELC/LEARNING a. make a generalization on the effect of changing the values

3. Setting of Classroom Standards
ELICIT
ACTIVITY 1: IDENIFY ME!
Identify the values of a, h and k.
1. f(x) = (x + 2)2 – 3
B. Establishing a ENGAGE
purpose for the Activity 2: STATION ROTATION
lesson Group the students into 3 subgroups where each group will be
assigned to a specific station. After 5 minutes, they will rotate to
the next station until all groups are able to do the activities for
each station.

Station 1: (Online Station) Show video clip from youtube showing

the graph on the effect of changing the values of a, h and k in the
equation f(x) = a ( x−h)2 + k. ( https://youtu.be/5-9KY1TYOgk)

Station 2: GRAPH ME!

Show the graph of the equations below using the table of values.

Note: The teacher will provide a graphing paper to each student

and let them graph.

1.f(x) = -(x + 2)2 +3

x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y 2 3 2 -1 -6 -13 -22

2.f(x) = (x - 2)2 - 3
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y 22 13 6 1 -2 -3 -2

Station 3: Using graph of the equations below. The teacher will

discuss on the effect of changing the values of a, h and k.
1.f(x) = -(x + 2)2 + 3.
2.f(x)= (x - 2)2 - 3
C. Presenting EXPLORE
examples/instances Base on the graph of equations f(x)= −( x+2)2 + 3 and
of the new lesson f(x) = (x - 2) 2 - 3,the teacher will ask questions to the students on
how the values of a, h and k effect the behavior of their graph.
D. Discussing new EXPLAIN
concepts and Base on the graph of the equations f(x)= ( x +2)2 – 3 and
practicing new f(x) = - (x + 2)2 + 3, show to the students the effect of changing the
skills #1 values of a, h, and k on the behavior of its graph and on the
properties of the quadratic function f(x) = a ( x−h)2 + k with or
without the use of technology.
E. Discussing new Activity 3: Boardwork
concepts and Using the table of values show the graph of the following
practicing new equations and let the students explain the effect of changing the
skills # 2 values of a, h, and k on the behavior of its graph and on the
properties of the quadratic function f(x) = a ( x−h)2 + k with or
without the use of technology.

1. f(x) = -(𝑥 -1)2 – 4

x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y -20 -13 -8 -5 -4 -5 -8

2. f(x) = (𝑥 + 1)2 + 4
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y 8 5 4 5 8 13 20
F. Developing Mastery ELABORATE

Formative the the following equations and explain the effect of changing the
Assessment) values of a, h and k.
1. f(x) = (𝑥 + 3)2 - 4
x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
y -4 -3 0 5 12 21 32

2. f(x) = -(𝑥 - 1)2 - 3

x -3 -2 -1 0 1 2 3
