Entrepreneurship Awareness Session
organized by Start-up Punjab at MGN Public School

In its endeavour of spreading awareness regarding entrepreneurship among


young students, Start-Up Punjab in association with Apeejay Institute of
Management & Engineering, Technical Campus, Jalandhar and
Entrepreneurship Development Cell has organised an awareness Session on
"Entrepreneurship & Innovation" for the students of MGN Public School,
Urban Estate Phase II, Jalandhar on 15th November, 2022.

The session was organised with the motive to guide students on their
entrepreneurial journey and provide an insight into the processes and funding
for the start- ups. It was an initiative taken by Start-up Punjab to motivate the
students to boost the economy by becoming successful entrepreneurs. Start-
up Punjab is an effort by the government to provide a platform to promote
entrepreneurial culture in the state.

The key note speaker for the Session was Dr. Sarabjit Singh, Principal
Director, Central Institute of Hand Tools, Jalandhar. The guests of honour
were Mr. Sanjeev Juneja, President, Jalandhar Auto Parts
Manufacturers Association and Mr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director,
Training Department, CIHT, Jalandhar.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, inaugurated the session by emphasizing on the


importance of Start-up Punjab. He highlighted on the fact that preparation
goes a long way in undertaking such an arduous journey. Once when one is
well prepared it should be followed with practice. He thanked all the
distinguished guests, resource persons for their valuable time.

Ms. Rajinder Kaur, Assistant professor – School of Management Apeejay


Institute of Management & Engineering, Technical Campus, Jalandhar briefed
the participants about the government funding for start-ups. she also gave a
detailed presentation on the start-up registration process. Ms. Kaur also shared
the information for various initiatives taken by state government for the start-
ups.

Dr. Sarabjit Singh, shared their knowledge and experience of initiatives and
the challenges faced in start-ups. He also discussed about various
entrepreneurship opportunities and schemes being offered by Start Up Punjab
and How Government can assist for promoting Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Singh shared the examples of various successful entrepreneurs and their
journey towards entrepreneurship. The session received tremendous response
and was attended by almost 100 students of MGN Public School. The vision
of the Start-Up and Entrepreneurship Development Policy is to develop the
State of Punjab as a leading global hub for Start-Ups and Innovation in order
to accelerate the economic growth within the State and to offer large scale
entrepreneurial and job opportunities in Punjab.

The Coordinators for the event were Ms. Arushi Sidana (Convener IIC &
EDC) and Ms. Rajinder Kaur (Co-Convener EDC).
Dr. Rajesh Bagga, Director, AIMETC also motivated the young students
and appreciated the efforts of Team IIC & EDC for conducting such Events in

The outcome of the session was a detailed information for schemes offered by
government for start-ups in India. The Session provided valuable inputs to the
participants, especially to the students which would help them in developing
something innovative & understanding the need of customers and towards the
journey of entrepreneurship.

Mr. Sanjeev Juneja, President, Jalandhar Auto Parts Manufacturers


Association too addressed the students and exemplified the start-up
initiatives.

The session lasted for two hours. It was an interactive session, and the
speakers encouraged the participants to ask questions and share their views.

A competition named “Creativa” was also organised for the students of MGN
Public School, in which the innovative ideas from the students were invited
that how they can choose 1 product from their surroundings and convert them
into an eco-friendly product. Total 30 entries were received and out of them 3
winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd) were announced. At the end of the session, winners were
awarded with Prizes.

Dr. Rajesh Bagga encouraged the students to think out of the box and put
their creativity into picture. Dr. Bagga, thanked the resource persons for
sharing their valuable knowledge and also motivated the convener of the
session Ms. Arushi Sidana to keep organising such sessions as they are a
source of great knowledge.
