F.5) I, Kenneth Ranasinghe the driver, returned to the locked, parked car at approximately 4.

15am,
with my mate, and a girl who I thought I knew. We were all in the car listening to music and chatting.
I briefly left the car to go to the convenience store (approx. 15 minutes). When I left for the
convenience store I did not lock the car because my mate and the lady friend were in the back seat
of the car listening to music via Bluetooth.

F.7) I was meeting up with a mate on k road and we ended our night around 4am when we came
back to the car (along with the lady who I thought I knew, that we met along the way). I had brought
the car up to Auckland from Matamata in order to procure some kitchen equipment from Auckland
for my mother’s Chips and Curry business in Matamata, to be transported back to Matamata the
following week.

F.11) When I, the driver, returned to the vehicle after 15 minutes, I couldn't find it where it was
parked on Gundry street. I realised the car was stolen when my mate returned on foot to Gundry
street about 20 minutes later. He told me that the lady drove away with him in the backseat, and
then threatened to stab him and told him to get out of the car once they were near the Auckland
hospital. He said the lady drove away in the car after he was forced out.

G.7) I left the driver’s seat (where I was sitting) to go to the dairy. My mate and the lady were
listening to music at the backseat (through the car's Bluetooth system), therefore I left the keys in
the ignition so they could continue to listen to music.

K.1) Please refer to the police report (reference number 230528/4160) for details of the incident. I
left my mate and the lady in the backseat for 15 minutes to pop into the dairy and when I got back
the car was stolen. I believe I acted in a way anyone would normally, by leaving the car with a
trusted friend, as they were both inside the car at the time using the car's bluetooth for music. And I
left them for a few minutes to get something. I did not at any point anticipate or consider, that the
lady would threaten his life, eject him from the car, and steal it.

My corrections/suggestions (KENNETH)
Good stuff on K1…just check below
F7. Amma and I already decided that i brought the car to Auckland since the day ajit uncle left just so
that I have a safe and reliable vehicle to travel back and forth from matamata..and to oversee work
there. And I go matamata thur or Friday every week. Weekend the incident happened, I went to
matamata on Thursday. Amma and I decided not to say anything about kitchen equipment..cos the
above explanation is simpler? So it’s a regular thing that I travel to matmata every weekend or
thrusday..thats the reason I have the car, not just one weekend I took it to get kitchen equipment.
Anyway that’s the jist of it, adjust as u see fit..and tell us what u changed, or didn’t.

F9: just change knew my mate to “knew my mate obviously”
