Introduction

Background of the study

In this study we will discuss about the impact of socioeconomic

status on senior high school student’s educational aspiration and

attainment. Socioeconomic status is a way of describing people

based on their educational, income and type of job. There are

many effects of socioeconomic status to senior high school

students especially to today’s happenings. It can be positive and

negative.

Students with low socioeconomic status student’s aspirational

can be affected that will them just make absences. These days

there are lot of family that has low socioeconomic status and it

affect the performance in academic of senior high students.

Socioeconomic status play an important role in formulation

aspiration of every student.

Socioeconomic status of the family determines the level and

equality of education. In this study will be focusing on

socioeconomic status affecting the senior high school educational


aspiration and attainment. It will determine the problem that

their facing on socioeconomic status and identify the effect of

the family income on both sexes academic achievement in the area

under the study.

The study entitled “impact of socioeconomic status on senior high

school student’s educational and attainment” aims to investigate

the effects of socioeconomic status on the educational

aspirations and attainment of senior high school students.

Socioeconomic status is defined as the individual or family in

relation to others based on their income, education, and

occupation.

The study is significant because socioeconomic status has been

shown to have a profound effect on educational outcomes. Students

from low-income families often face more obstacles to achieving

academic success than those from high-income families. These

obstacles can include limited access to educational support at

home, and higher levels of stress and insecurity.

The study will be conducted among senior high school students in

a diverse range of socioeconomic backgrounds. The reseachers will

gather data through surveys, interviews, and academic records to


examine the relationship between socioeconomic status,

educational attainment.

The findings of this study will have important implications for

policymakers and educators. It will provide insights into the

factors that affect the educational aspirations and attainment of

senior high school students, and inform the development of

policies and programs aimed at reducing educational inequalities

and promoting social mobility.

In conclusion, the study on the impact of socioeconomic status

on senior high school students’ educational aspirations and

attainment is an important research topic that can shed light on

the challenges faced by students from low-income families and

inform the development of interventions to support their

educational success.
Statements of the problem

The title “The Impact of the Socioeconomic Status on Senior High

School Students’ Educational Aspirations and Attainment” is:

1. How does socioeconomic status impact academic achievement in

senior high school students?

2. What are the effects of socioeconomic status on the mental

health and well-being of senior high school students?

3. How does access to resources and opportunities differ for

senior high school students from different socioeconomic

background?

4. What are the barriers that prevent senior high school

students from low-income families from achieving academic

success, and how can these be addressed?


Objective of the study

Title “the impact of socioeconomic status on senior high school

students’ educational aspirations and attainments is to:

 To discover significant disparities in educational

aspiration among secondary school students based on their

socioeconomic status.

 To investigate the association between teenage educational

aspiration and socioeconomic position.

 To make some additional suggestions.


Significant of the study

The study titled “impact of socioeconomic status on senior high

school student educational aspiration and attainment” is

significant because it sheds light on the role played by

socioeconomic status in determining the educational aspirations

and achievements of senior high school students. The study

provides valuable insights into the challenges faced by students

belonging to lower socioeconomic backgrounds and how these

challenges affect their educational aspirations and achievements.

The findings of this study can have significant implications for

policymakers, educators, and parents. Understanding the impact of

socioeconomic status on educational aspirations and attainment

can help in designing effective interventions and policies to

address the needs of students from disadvantages backgrounds. The

study can also help educators and parents in providing

appropriate guidance and support to these students to help them

achieve their educational goals.


Moreover, the study can also contribute to the existing

literature on educational inequality and provide a framework for

future research on this topic. It can help identify gaps in the

current understanding of the impact of socioeconomic status on

educational aspirations and attainment and provide directions for

future research to address these gaps.

Overall, the study is significant as it addresses an important

issue regarding educational inequality and provide insights that

can help in promoting greater equality and access to education

for all students, regardless of their socioeconomic status.


Scope and the limitations of the study

Socioeconomic disadvantage can include having fewer years of

formal education, having a poor income, and having a low

occupational standing. Students from low-income, uneducated

families confront numerous challenges to learning. This study’s

primary respondents will be limited to grade 11 students from

senior high school.

Academic achievement is given the top priority in an educational

system that aims to advance both the macro-level development of

human resources and the child’s scholastic growth. A child’s

academic performance serves as the basis for monitoring their

scientific rearing and education. The primary focus of the

broader term, educational progress, is an academic performance in

one’s life. It serves as a balm for the soul.

Education is a crucial need in this era of globalization.

Education not only offers to understand but also shapes the


personality, instills moral values, broadens knowledge, and

bestows talents. Education is crucial because of the culture of

competition. In any profession, highly qualified employees are

needed. It is well acknowledged that children of parents with

higher and intermediate socioeconomic status (SES) are exposed to

a learning environment at home that is more favorable since these

parents have greater learning resources available to them.


Definition of terms

Socioeconomic – is the social standing or class of an individual

or group. It is often measured as a combination of education,

income, and occupation.

Aspiration – a strong desire, longing, or aim; ambition:

intellectual aspirations. A goal or objective that is strongly

desired.

Significant – sufficiently great or important to be worthy of

attention.

Profound – penetrating or entering deeply into subjects of

thought or knowledge and having deep insight or understanding, a

profound thinker.

Outcome – the result or effect of an action, situation, or

event.
Obstacle – something that blocks you so that movement, going

forward, or action is prevented or made more difficult.

Diverse – including or involving people from a range of different

social and ethnic backgrounds and of different genders, sexual

orientations, etc.

Implication – the conclusion that can be drawn from something

although it is not explicitly stated.

Policymakers – a person responsible for or involved in

formulating policies, especially in politics.

Educator – a person who provides instruction or education; a

teacher. "the perspective of a professional educator"

Intervention – action taken to improve a situation.

Inequalities – the quality of being unequal or uneven such as

social disparity of distribution or opportunity, lack of evenness

and the condition of being variable changeable.


Social mobility – movement of individuals, families, or groups

through a system of social hierarchy or stratification.

Insight – the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive

understanding of a person or thing.

Disparities – a difference in level or treatment, especially one

that is seen as unfair.

Shed – a simple roofed structure, typically made of wood or

metal, used as a storage space, a shelter for animals, or a

workshop.

Valuable – a thing that is of great worth, especially a small

item of personal property.

Framework – an essential supporting structure of a building,

vehicle, or object. Fewer –a small number of people or things.

Macro-level – addresses peace, conflict, and violence in large

populations.

Rearing – bring up and care for (a child) until they are fully

grown, especially in a particular manner or place.


Crucial – decisive or critical, especially in the success or

failure of something.

Globalization – a term used to describe how trade and technology

have made the world into a more connected and interdependent

place.

Instills – gradually but firmly establish (an idea or attitude,

especially a desirable one) in a person's mind.

Broadens – become larger in distance from side to side; widen.

Bestows – to convey as a gift. usually used with on or upon.
