Quality Critiria English-Ukrainian Translation

Native accent We cannot evaluate it here because the
translator translated speech into his native
language.
Pleasant voice 8/10 - In general, the voice was pleasant, only
at times it did not correspond to the
emotionality of the speaker.
Fluency of delivery 8/10 - In general, it was good, but sometimes
the translator stuttered, repeated a word
several times, or could not say the translation
the first time.
Logical cohesion of utterance 8/10 - In general, there were no problems
with this, but sometimes the translator
constructed sentences incorrectly and
illogically using the wrong order of words.
Sense consistency with original 10/10
message
Completeness of interpretation 10/10 - The translator managed to translate
the entire text of the speaker without any
significant omissions.
Correct grammatical usage 7/10 - The translator made several
grammatical errors. For example:
 дякуємо за його, instead of дякуємо
за нього
 8 млрд допомоги
Usage of correct terminology 10/10 - All the terminology was well
translated, and there was also an abbreviation
in the speech, which the translator also
translated correctly.
Use of appropriate style 10/10
Endurance 10/10 - In general, the duration of the
translation was good, only sometimes it was
longer than the original, and then only
because of the speed of the translator.
Poise 10/10
Reliability 10/10 - I believe that the translation of this
translator can be relied on, because he did not
make mistakes that would change the
meaning of what was said.
2. Analyze the reasons for any pitfalls you find.

English-Ukrainian Translation: In general, there were not many mistakes. And the
ones that the interpreter did allow may have been done by accident. As for the
mistake "за його", at first, I thought that maybe the native language of the
interpreter is Russian, that's why he made such a mistake. But I'm not sure about
this, because the interpreter knew Ukrainian well and also used a lot of good purely
Ukrainian words.

3. Prioritize the quality criteria.

English-Ukrainian Translation: It seems to me that in this interpretation the most

important are reliability, completeness of interpretation and usage of correct
terminology. Because when translating such speeches, it is important to convey all
the information correctly, not to omit any important information and translate the
terminology correctly, because all this can affect the content of what was said and
cause some misunderstandings, which as a result can even lead to problems. After
these qualitative criteria, in order of importance, in my opinion, the use of the
appropriate style, logical cohesion of utterance, sense consistency with original
message and correct grammatical usage follow. Because, for example, using the
wrong tense during translation can also cause misunderstandings.

4. Prioritize the mistakes.

English-Ukrainian Translation: In my opinion, the most important mistakes were

made regarding the logical cohesion of utterance. After all, if a sentence is
constructed illogically, it can make it difficult to understand what is being said. Next,
in my opinion, in the order of importance are mistakes regarding the fluency of
speech. Because the interpreter stutters or, for example, cannot immediately
pronounce the name of the city and tries to do it several times, the listener may not
understand this piece of speech. And only after that come grammatical errors made
by the interpreter. After all, even if the listeners notice them, it will still not prevent
them from understanding the speech.
