1. A lake has a surface area of 708 000 m2. For the month of March, this lake had an inflow of
1.5 m3/s and an outflow of 1.25 m3/s. A storage change of +708,000 m3 was recorded. If
the total depth of rainfall recorded at the local rain gauge was 225 mm for the month,
estimate the evaporation loss from the lake in mm unit. State any assumptions that you
make in calculations.

2. Using data given, estimate the average precipitation using Thiessen method.

3. (a) The drainage area of the Bekok River is 13,531 km2. If the mean annual runoff is
determined to be 159.51 m3/s and the average annual rainfall is 1.11 m, estimate the
evapotranspiration losses (m/year) for the area.

(b) Using the Meyer Equations, find the daily evaporation rate (in/day) for a lake given that the
mean value for air temperature is 89 oF, the mean value for water temperature is
67 oF, the average wind speed is 9 mph, the relative humidity is 23 %. and pan empirical
coefficient is 0.36.

4. (a) Calculate composite runoff coefficient.

(b) Calculate wetted area (ft2), wetted perimeter (ft) and hydraulic radius (ft) the stream is
flowing bank full in a trapezoidal channel.

5. Calculate the discharge (m3/s) in the stream. The rating equation of the current meter is
v = 0.65 Ns + 0.03 m/s.
