CONCLUDING SENTENCES

First Exercise - Read the following paragraph. Write a concluding sentence for the paragraph
using an end-of-paragraph signal.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior.

Bullying often accompanies a real or perceived power imbalance. Bullying can include
making threats, spreading rumors, and attacking someone either verbally or physically.
Bullying can take place either in person, or on-line, a phenomenon known as
“cyber-bullying.” But no matter how it occurs, bullying is unacceptable behavior. On October
19th, we are encouraging all students to stand up against bullying by wearing an orange
T-shirt. In this way, we hope that our manifestation can spark a conversation about the
issue in our school environment and make victims of bullying feel more comfortable to
come forward and report their aggressors.

Second Exercise - Write a concluding sentence to go with each topic sentence below, using
an end-of-paragraph signal.
