CHAPTER 7

1. A good life consists of having things that satisfy you and bring you joy. What constitutes a good life is
up to the individual. However, a good life typically includes doing good for others, being ethical and
caring, being productive, and having a purpose in life. So, when we say someone is living well or has
lived a good life, we may simply mean that they are a good person, someone who is courageous, honest,
trustworthy, kind, selfless, generous, helpful, loyal, principled, and so on. Many of the most important
virtues are possessed and practiced by them.

2. Every day, scientific advances have an impact on your perception of what constitutes a good life. How
far does it go? It all depends on whether you consider the advancement to be positive or negative.
