Manual : 4D sequence by

REVIT

International Engineering Dept. 2013年6月11日

Concept :

3D models Schedule (time) 4D model

4D = 3D + time
5D = 3D + time + cost
Sample of 4D works

Getting start for 4D works

1) Start to create phase

1
Project phase

1) Create phase (INSERT)

3 2) Combine the phase

2 (no delete option)

3) Current phasing

Recommend
Recommend 1) To create the phasing
between the existing and
new construction.

Phase filters are used to filter
the 3D object in the view.

Mostly use for default view

filter is

1) Show complete
2) Show new
3) Show all

Show complete Show new Show all

Current phase

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3
1) Show complete
Show all element from the
phase which older than the
current phase.

2) Show new
Show only the elements in the
current phase.

3) Show all

display for the objects in the
older phases.

STEP 1 : CREATE PHASES

STEP 2 : ASSIGN PHASE TO 3D OBJECTS

STEP 3 : CREATE VIEWS

STEP 4 : EXPORT AND ARRANGE IN POWERPOINT

Phasing of model is shown in
the object property

To select the object, (multiple

selection is possible) and
change the phasing parameter

There are 2 types of the

model phasing.

1) Phase create

1
2) Phase demolish

2
Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4 Phase 5

1) Set phase create 2 and

phase demolish 4

Object will be shown from

phase 2 to phase 3

2) Set phase create 2 and

1
phase demolish none

Object will be shown from

phase 2 until the last phase

Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Phase 4 Phase 5

2
Recommend Recommend
To create two 3D views to use
for assign the phase to object.

Assign phase setting in one

view

When we use this setting ,

once objects are assigned to
the phasing, objects will
disappear from the view.

Then you can continue to

assign the phasing to the
object until there is no object
inside this view.
STEP 1 : CREATE PHASES

STEP 2 : ASSIGN PHASE TO 3D OBJECTS

STEP 3 : CREATE VIEWS

STEP 4 : EXPORT AND ARRANGE IN POWERPOINT

View’s phasing is used to
control the phasing/ display
in each view.

Phase filter parameter is

used for changing the display
setting.

Phase is used to assign the

phasing to the view.
To create sequence views

Create views to display the

phasing. One view will be
used for one phase.

For example if there are 12

phases, 12 views are needed.

3 Step 1 :
Change view phase to the last
1 phase to show the over all
model.
Step 2 : Turn on crop view
option.
Step 3 : Adjust the crop
4 border.
2 Step 4 : Duplicate views.
Step 5 : Rename views follow
the phasing.
5 Step 6 : Change view phase to
follow the view name.

Export images

1 1) Select Export function

2) Select location to be
placed the images

3) Click select Views/Sheet

4) Select the views that

created for phasing

4
Export images
5
5) Fill in image size (Min 1200
is recommend)

6) Choose image format

(PNG format is recommend)

6
By using this method, multiple
views can be exported in one
time.
Arrange images in Power point

To choose insert and link when

inserting the image to the power
point

This method is used to link the

images to the original location.

In case that 4D revising is

required, export the revised
images from Revit to overwrite
the old image at the same
location will automatically
updated the images in the power
point.

Export to Automatically
overwrite the update the images
same file in power point
1) After arrange the first image
and put time table, create the
second slide by copy from the
1 first slide

2) Use right click at the image in

page 2 and select change
picture to replace the image.

3) Continue this process until all

4D images is placed in the
power point.

Note :
Insert and link option is also
necessary to choose to maintain
the link path to the original file.
2
When there is no more change
for the 4D image work.
Unlink the image is necessary
to do.

1) Go to edit link to file.

2) Select all the link images

and click Break link.
