PRECAUTIONS
• RETRACT & DEACTIVATE SLATS BEFORE OPENING FAN COWLS
• MAKE SURE ENG START SWITCH ON P5 OVERHEAD PANEL IS IN NORM
POSITION & PUT A DONOT OPEARATE TAG
• MAKE SURE FUEL CUT OFF SWITCH IS IN CUTOFF POSITION & PUT DO
NOT OPERATE TAG.
• MAKE SURE FWD THRUST LEVERS ARE IN IDLE POSITION (PUT DO NOT
OPERATE TAG)
• MAKE SURE R-THRUST LEVERS ARE IN FULLY FWD & DOWN POSITION (
PUT DO NOT OPERATE TAG)
• ONLY ONE THRUST REVERSER CAN BE MADE INOP FOR INFLIGHT OPS
• VERIFY TRACK LOCK IS IN LOCKED POSITION (PRIMARY OR ALTN METHOD)
• VERIFY ONE HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR ON EACH THRUST REVERSER HALF IS
IN THE LOCKED POSITION
• AFTER ENGINE START FOLLOWING ADVISORY MSGS WILL BE DISPLAYED

2. ENG REVERSER LIMITED R
PROCEDURE
DO ALL SPECIFIED TASKS IN CORRECT SEQUENCE AS MENTIONED
VERIFY TRACK LOCK MECHANISM IS IN LOCK POSITION. THERE ARE TWO
PROCEDURES PREFERRED & ALTERNATE. PREFERRED PROCEDURE IS
TIME CONSUMING SO FOLLOW ALTERNATE PROCEDURE AS GIVEN
BELOW.

1. ALTERNATE PROCEDURE :DO TRACK LOCK MECHANISM -


OPERATIONAL TEST, AMM B787-A-R78-31-00-31A-320A-A.
ONCE IT IS CONFIRMED THAT TRACK LOCK IS IN LOCKED POSITION
2. REMOVE POWER FROM APPLICABLE ISOLATION CONTROL VALVE (
ICV) BY OPENING THE APPLICABLE CB: & INSTALL SAFETY TAG

• P-400 PANEL---T/R ISOLATION VALVE- R----CT7834822 Row: A Col: 3

3. NOW DEACTIVATE (ISOLATE) THE HYD CNTRL UNIT (HCU)
OPENI THE APPLICABLE PANEL:SITUATED ON ENGINE PYLON
FOR LEFT T-REV----434FL AFT STRUT FAIRIUNG ACCESS DOOR
FOR RIGHT T-REV—444FL AFT STRUT FAIRING ACCESS DOOR

<1> REMOVE THE HCU DEACTIVATION PIN FROM THE HCU RECEPTACLE.
<2> PUSH THE ICV INHIBIT LEVER TO THE HCU BODY, TO THE LOCK OUT
POSITION.
<3> INSTALL THE HCU DEACTIVATION PIN , WITHOUT A REMOVE BEFORE
FLIGHT STREAMER, THROUGH THE LOCK PIN HOLE AND INHIBIT LEVER
TO HOLD THEL EVER IN ITS POSITION.

NOW CLOSE THE PYLON ACCESS PANEL


HCU
• HCU MANUAL INHIBIT LEVER & PIN
MECHANICALLY LOCKS THE ISOLATION
VALVE INTERNAL SPOOL IN THE CLOSED
POSITION, FOR MAINTENANCE OR WHEN
T-REV IS DEACTIVATED. THIS REMOVES
HYDRAULIC PRESSURE FROM T-REV
SYSTEM EVEN IF COMMANDED BY EEC.

• MANUAL BYPASS NRV & PIN OPENS


THE HYD RETURN CHECK VALVE DURING
MANUAL OPERATION OF T-REV.

FOR DEACTIVATION OR
MAINTENANCE ON GND FOR MANUAL T-
REV OPS

• NOW MAKE SURE ATLEAST
ONE HYD ACTUATOR ON
EACH T- REV HALF IS IN
LOCKED POSITION AS
FOLLOWS
• GAIN ACCESS TO T-REV
HYD ACTUATORS BY
OPENING FAN COWLS
• THE LOCK PIN HOLE ON
THE LOCK RELEASE WILL
NOT ALIGN WITH THE TWO
HOLES ON THE ACTUATOR
(AS SHOWN IN NEXT SLIDE)
• THE LOCK RELEASE LEVER
WILL BE ON THE
PROXIMITY SENSOR
LOCKED & UNLOCKED ACTUATORS

• CLOSE TH FAN COWL


• OPEN THE LATCH BEAM COMPARTMENT DOOR
• REMOVE THE TWO RETAINERS BY OPENING 4 SCREWS
• (RETAINERS HOLD THE DEACTIVATION PINS ONTO THE SLIDER TRACKS OF THE LATCH BEAM)
• REMOVE THE TWO DEACTIVATION PINS BY REMOVING TWO NUTS & BOLTS & FOUR CLAMPS
• AFTER REMOVING THE TWO DEACTIVATION PINS INSTALL BACK FOUR CLAMPS BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL POSITION
• NOW MOVE ONTO THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE LOCKOUT PIN ACCESS PANEL ( 415HB, 416BB. 425HB, 426BB) & REMOVE THE APPLICABLE PANELS (415 H
HB FOR LEFT T-REV & 416BB & 426BB FOR RIGHT T-REV)
• INSTALL THE TWO DEACTIVATION PINS THROUGH THE HOLES IN THE TRACKS OF THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE.
• NOW PUT TWO RETAINERS ONTO THE DEACTIVATION PINS USING TWO SCREWS FOR EACH RETAINER
• INSTALL THE REMOVED TRANSLATING SLEEVE LOCKOUT PIN ACCESS PANELS IN THE SAME LOCATION FROM WHERE YOU REMOVED THE TWO RETAINER
• NOW CLOSE THE LATCH BEAM ACCESS DOOR.
• MAKE SURE THAT THE TWO DEACTIVATION PINS SHOW THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE TWO RETAINERS ON THE TRANSLATING SLEEVES.
• THIS COMPLETES THE PROCEDURE TO LOCK OUT THRUST REVERSER FOR INFLIGHT OPS.
• NOW PUT THE A/C BACK TO ITS NORMAL POSITION– REACTIVATE THE SLATS & REMOVE ALL DO NOT OPERATE TAGS. FROM THRUST LEVER, T-REV LEVE
SWITCH ,& START SWITCH
• COMPLETE THE PAPERWORK & RAISE ADD.
