one can be deactivated ( locked out) using this procedure provided.
• -Position of deactivated spoiler is verified before each departure
• -Fap secondary mode is verified to operate normally once each flt day
(1) If the trailing edge flaps are extended, do not retract until the steps to deactivate the
spoilers are completed.
(2) Use CMCF to find out inop spoiler number
(3) Make sure that the hydraulic systems are not on and attach DO NOT OPERATE tag,
STD-858, on the hydraulic EMP switches. If necessary, do these tasks:
(a) Hydraulic System Power - Left - Deactivation, AMM B787-A-29-11-00-24A-510B-
A
(b) Hydraulic System Power - Right - Deactivation, AMM B787-A-29-11-00-26A-
510B-A
(c) Hydraulic System Power - Center - Deactivation, AMM B787-A-29-11-00-32A-

PREPARATION TO DEACTIVATE HYD
SPOILER
Remove power from the hydraulic spoiler that does not operate. Use a flight deck MFD
(Multi Function Display) only to open the applicable circuit breaker:
(c) Make sure that the inoperative spoiler did not cause damage to the trailing edge
flap. Do this task: Spoiler-Flap Interference - Inspection, AMM B787-A-05-51-25-
00A-280A-A.
DISCONNECT CAP & STOW APPLICABLE ELECT CONNECTOR
NOTE: Make sure that the dispatch tool is installed against the rod end on the actuator.
Outboard & Inboard Lockout Tool
Make sure that the inoperative spoiler trailing edge is deflected up approximately 1.0 in.
(2.5 cm) relative to the adjacent spoiler(s).
Make sure that the spoiler actuator fully retracts against the collar.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL YOUR TOOLS BACK IN YOUR TOOL BAG.
