Answer :

1. Narrative text is atext which is used to describe an event or someone’s experience which
is closed by a resolution. In another words, narrative is a text which tell about a
problematic one. There is conflicts and turning point or anti climax which is ended by a
solution.

2. The narrative text includes any type of text that relates a series of events chronologically.
This includes fiction (novels, short stories) and nonfiction (memoirs, biographies). Both
forms tell stories that use imaginative language and express emotion, often through the
use of images, metaphors and symbols. In general, the narrative form is unique, because
the authors relate the ideas they want to express about how people behave and what they
believe. These ideas or themes are generally related to universal truths and establish
connections with the reader's experiences.

4. The simmiliaries of Narrative Text and Recount Text :


Recount Text :

 “Recount Text” is a text which retells events or experiences in the past. Its purpose is
either to inform or to entertain the audience.

 Recount describes series of events in detail. It does not expose the struggle on how to
make them happen. The event happened smoothly. 

            Generic Structure :

1. Orientation : Introducing the participants, place and time


2. Events : Describing series of events that happened in the past
3. Reorientation: It is optional: Stating personal comment of the writer
to the story

             Language Features 

 Introducing personal participant;


 Using chronological connection;
 The, first, etc.
 Using linking verbs
 Using action verb
 Using simple pas

Narrative Text :

 “Narrative Text” is a text telling a story focusing specific participants. 


 Its social function is to tell stories or past events and entertain the readers. 
 Narrative text always appear as a hard portrait of participant's past experience. It reveals
the conflict among the participants. 

Generic Structure : 

1. Orientation : Introducing the participants and informing the time and place
2. Complication : Describing the rising crises which the participants have to do with
3. Resolution : Showing the way of participants to solve the crises, better or wors

The Story of Taba Lake

Once upon a time, there was a man who was living in north Sumatra. He lived in a
simple hut in a farming field. The did some gardening and fishing for his daily life.

One day, while the man was do fishing, he caught a big golden fish in his
trap. It was the biggest catch which he ever had in his life. Surprisingly, this fish
turned into a beautiful princess. He felt in love with her and proposed her to be his
wife. She said; "Yes, but you have to promise not to tell anyone about the secret
that I was once a fish, otherwise there will be a huge disaster". The man made the
deal and they got married, lived happily and had a daughter.

Few years later, this daughter would help bringing lunch to her father out in the
fields. One day, his daughter was so hungry and she ate his father’s lunch.
Unfortunately, he found out and got furious, and shouted; “You damned daughter
of a fish”. The daughter ran home and asked her mother. The mother started
crying, felt sad that her husband had broke his promise.

Then she told her daughter to run up the hills because a huge disaster was about to
come. When her daughter left, she prayed. Soon there was a big earthquake
followed by non-stop pouring rain. The whole area got flooded and became Toba
Lake. She turned into a fish again and the man became the island of Samosir.
