Borobudur Temple

Borobudur is Hindu – Budhist temple. It was built in the ninth century under Sailendra
dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java,
Indonesia.

Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the Gupta
architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 m high and consists of eight
steps like stone terrace. The first five terraces are square and surrounded by walls
adorned with Budhist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular.

Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire edifice is crowned by a large
stupa at the centre at the centre of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through
some 4.8 km of passage and stairways. The design of Borobudur which symbolizes the
structure of universe influences temples at Angkor, Cambodia.

Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a


valuable treasure for Indonesian people.

Sidik Jari Museum located on Hayam Wuruk Street, Denpasar. It is a private fine art museum established and
owned by I Gusti Ngurah Gede Pamecutan. The museum exhibits the work of its owner as well as other artists.
The uniqueness of the collection in this museum is that the paintings are done using the tips of the fingers in
applying different colors or paints in order to represent the artist’s imagination.
This museum consists of a hall for exhibitions, a library, a studio, an open hall for various activities, and an outdoor
stage for dance performances.
It is open daily from 09.00 a.m. to 04.00 p.m. except on public holiday.

Tanah Lot, in Tabanan Bali regency also known as the ‘rice bowl of Bali’ is literally taken from the Balinese word
‘lot’, meaning sea, and the Indonesian word ‘tanah’ land. Therefore, at this ‘land next to the sea’ we find
uncontrived photo opportunities in a part of Bali relatively unspoiled by the tourist impact of recent years, as well
as one of the most photographed icons on the island, Pura Tanah Lot.
Pura means ‘temple’ of which Bali apparently has thousands, but none compare to this majestic land, or should
we say, sea mark. It belongs to a group of six temples dotted around the island that local believes all magically
protect Bali. At Pura Tanah Lot this protection is in response to prayers offered to the deities of the sea, and it’s

I live in La Castellana. My neighborhood is very quiet and very old. There are many big houses and
some apartment buildings. The streets are clean and spacious. Near my house there are two schools
and a university. There are some public parks. The houses have large gardens. There are many huge
trees along the streets.

The National Monument (or Monument Nasional) is a 132 meters tower in the center of Merdeka
Square, Central Jakarta. It symbolizes the fight for Indonesia’s independence. The monument consist
of a 117,7 m obelisk on a 45 m square platform at a height of 17 m.
The towering monument symbolizes the philosophy of Lingga and Yoni. Lingga resembles, rice pestle
(alu) and Yoni resembles a mortar rice (lesung), two important items in Indonesian agricultural
tradition.
The construction began in 1961 under the direction of President Soekarno and the monument was
opened to the public in 1975. It is topped by a flame covered with gold foil. The monument and
museum is opened daily from 08.00 – 15.00 every day throughout the week, except for the last
Monday of the month the monument is closed.

My Best Friend, Haruka
In Senior high school, I had best friend from Korea. Her name was Haruka. She was beautiful,
smart, and low profile. For that many people loved her, included of me myself. It was because,
even though she was from foreign country that considered by many students would be arrogant
with students in my school, but Haruka was different. She was a good girl.
I and Haruka became good friend each other. I was really glad in having friend like her. It was
because even though she was from rich family and I was not from rich family, she wanted to have
a friend like me. She wanted to share everything to me. So, did I. For the example, when she had
something, like knowledge, foods, or even gift, she would give them to me. Then, I did the same
thing like her, for the example when my mom made a food, traditional food, I would give that food
also to Haruka.
One day, I was invited by Haruka’s family to attend Haruka’s birth day. I came to Haruka’s
house as shown in invitation card. I was very surprised when I looked the house of Haruka that was
very luxurious, and beautiful. I felt afraid to enter Haruka’s house. For that, I only waited on the
outside of Haruka’s house. I stood at fence. Then, seven minutes, I stood at fence. I saw Haruka
went out from her house. She came to me and she asked why I did not enter. I did not answer, I
only smiled. Then, she said to me that her birthday would not be started without the existence of
me. I was very touched in hearing that. I hugged her. Then, I and Haruka entered to Haruka’s
house. Many guests looked at me and Haruka. Then, the party started. Before that, Haruka’s
parents introduced me to the guests that I was the best friend for her daughter and Haruka’s family
wanted me follow them to holiday in Korea next month. Many people gave applause to me and
Haruka’s family. I was so touched. I felt to cry.
I was fortunate having friend like Haruka, and knew Haruka’s family.

My Home Bali
Bali is an island in the Indonesian archipelago. It is in the south of the equator and has warm
weather all the year. The rainy season is November to April, but it can rain anytime. Bali is 120
kilometers wide from east to west and 80 kilometers from north to south, so everyone’s quite close
to the sea. Bali is shaped like a diamond. Mount Agung, a volcano, is 3,124 meters high and is visible
from far away. Most of the people are Hindus. There are many temples and many religious festivals.
Tourism is the most important industry. Many tourists visit Bali to see the beautiful scenery and
interesting festivals, to swim in the warm seas, to look at beautiful mountains and valleys, and to shop
