Transportation in London is not as difficult as you might think. Underground trains are very easy

While the size of the lake or other body of water will vary with seasonal changes in precipitation
and show melt, it is not a significant flood unless such escapes of water endanger land areas used
by man like a village, city or other inhabited area.
Flood can also occur in rivers when flows exceed the capacity of the river channel particularly at
bends or meanders. Flood often causes damaged to homes and businesses if they are placed in
natural flood plains of rivers. While flood damaged can be virtually eliminated by moving away
from rivers and other bodies of water, since time out of mind, people have lived and worked by
the water to seek the sustenance and capitalize on the gains of cheap and easy travel and
commerce by being near water. That humans continue to inhabit areas threatened by flood
damage is evidence that the perceived value of living near the water exceeds the cost of repeated
periodic flooding.
What should people do to avoid the loss of their businesses caused by the flood?

What do you dislike about the rainy season? Floods? Getting wet? Well, I agree with you. What
about catching a cold? I think during this season, people catch a cold easily. The cold usually
lasts between three and five days. If you ask me how to recover from a cold as quickly as
possible, here are many answers. Drink plenty of water and fruit juice. Fruit contains vitamin C
which is good for the immune system. Get a lot of rest and have enough exercise. Don’t stay up
late at night. Make sure you eat healthy foods. Be healthy and good luck!
Learning English through music and songs can be very enjoyable. You can mix pleasure with
learning when you listen to a song and exploit the song as a means to your English progress.
Some underlying reason can be drawn to support the idea why we use song in language learning.
Firstly, “the song stuck in my head” phenomenon (the echoing in our minds of the last song we
heard after leaving a restaurant, shopping malls, etc) can be both enjoyable and sometimes
unnerving. This phenomenon also seems to reinforce the idea that songs work on our short-and-
long term memory.
Secondly, songs in general also use simple conversational language, with a lot of repetition,
which is just what many learners look for sample text. The fact that they are effective makes
them many times more motivating then ather text. Although usually simple, some songs can be
quite complex syntactically, lexically and poetically, and can be analyzed in the same way as any
other literary sample.
Furthermore, song can be appropriated by listener for their own purpose. Most pop songs and
probably many other types don’t have precise people, place or time reference.
In addition, songs are relaxing. They provide variety and fun, and encourage harmony within
oneself and within one group. Little wonder they are important tools in sustaining culture,
religion, patriotism and yeas, even revolution.
Last but not least, there are many learning activities we can do with songs such as studying
grammar, practising selective listening comprehension, translating songs, learning vocabulary,
spelling and culture.
From the elaboration above, it can be concluded that learning through music and songs, learning
English can be enjoyable and fun.
On August 6, 1945 an atomic bomb was dropped on the Japanese city of Hiroshima by the

The Committee for Indonesian Independence confirmed the wish to achieve the Independence of

hearing this, a young group urged elderly to immediately proclaim the independence of

I personally think that reading is very important activity in our life. Why do I say so? Firstly, by
reading we can get a lot of knowledge about many things in the world such as science,
technology, sports, arts, culture, etc written in either books, magazine, newspaper, etc.
Secondly, by reading we can get a lot of news and information about something happening in any
parts of the world which can we see directly.
Another reason, reading can give us pleasure too. When we are tired, we read books, newspaper
or magazine on the entertaiment coloumn such as comedy, short story, quiz, etc.
The last, reading can also take us to other parts of the world. By reading a book a bout Irian Jaya
we may feel we’re really sitting in the jungles not at home in our rooms.
From the facts above, it’s obvious that everyone needs to read to get knowledge, information and
also entertaiment. Or in summary we can say reading is truly important in our life.

1. Stay out of the sun during peak hours. While these times may vary slightly depending on
the season and where you live. You should be indoors if all possible between 10:00 and 15:00.
2. Keep covered up. Floppy hats and large umbrellas work well and so do cover-ups. Long-
sleeved cotton shirts are excellent for hiking, cycling etc; see your sports store for special
brands that allow breathing as well as cover-up.
3. Use sunscreen on any exposed areas. An SPF of 45+ is recommended for it allows even the
fairest skinned folks to stay out in the sun for a few hours before reapplying. Try chopstick on
your lips. Follow the instructions on sunscreen carefully. Always reapply after leaving the
water, as it’ll have washed off.
4. Don’t forget hard-to-reach places. Don’t forget to cover the backs of your knees, back of
your neck, elbows and back of your ears (if you have short hair). Feet should also be included
if you are wearing sandals, flip-flops or going bare-foot. Even these places can hurt a lot with
sunburn.
5. Don’t lie in the sun purposefully seeking a tan. This is not only damaging to your skin but
might burn you the first few times you try it at the beginning of the season. If you want to tan,
do it gradually and sensibly, with short exposure and building up over time.
6. Put a small amount of oil or sunscreen in your hair so you will avoid burning your scalp.
Or cover it with a hat. Some shampoos and hair conditioners contain SPF protection.
Tornadoes occure when the conditions that cause thunderstorms are unusually violent. Winds
blow in opposite directions around a strong updraft
start a narrow, violent whirl. Centrifugal force
effectively throw the air away from the center,
leaving a core of very low pressure.
A tornado usually moves toward the east (or often northeast in the Northern Hemisphere and
southeast Hemisphere) at 25 or 40 miles (40 to 65 kilometers) per hour. Fortunately, most
tornados are less than half a mile (800 meters) wide; the edge of one may destroy all of the
housess on one side of a street while leaving thouse on the other side completely undamage.
Deaths from tornados in the United States averaged roughly 100 per year over the last century.
However, theyhave dropped somewhat in recent decades as better forecating and warning
systems have been implemented.

B. There are no more tornados in the United States
C. There are better forecasting and warning systems
D. The tornado left the United States completely undamage

I did not have time for breakfast. I was starving as I ran to catch the school bus. I just
missed it. Dad had to ride me to school. He was late for teaching at his school and he was furious
with me. He scolded me for being late.
I arrived at school on time. The teacher asked us to hand in our homework. My homework
was not in my bag. I had forgotten to put it in my bag the night before. I usually check my bag in
the morning. I did not do this because I was late. I had to do extra assignment as a punishment.
After Biology lesson, I did not tie my shoelace properly. I tripped over it. And fell down the
stairs. I hurt my knee and had to have a bandage on it. What a terrible day! I hope that I have
much better one tomorrow
SNAKES
Snakes are reptiles (cold-blooded creatures). They belong to the same group as lizards
(the scalped group, Squamata) but from a sub-group of their own (Serpentes).
Snakes have two legs but a long time ago they had clawn to help them slither along.
Snakes are not slimy. They are covered in scales which are just bumpson the skin. Their skin
is hard and glossy to reduce friction as the snake slithers along the ground.
Snakes often sun bathe on rocks in the warm weather. This is because snakes are cold-
blooded, they need the sun ‘s warmth to heat their bodies up.
Most snakes live in the country. Some types of snakes live in trees, some live in water,
but most live on the ground in deserted rabbit burrows, in thick, long grass and in old logs.
A snake’s diet usually consists of frogs, lizards, and mice and other snakes. The
Anaconda can eat small crocodiles and even bears. Many snakes protect themselves with their
fangs. Some snakes are protected by scaring their enemies away like the Cobra. The flying
snakes glide away from danger. Their ribs spread apart and the skin streches out. Its
techniqueis just like the sugar gliders.
Rabbits are small, herbivorous mammals with acute sight and hearing. They hide from
predators using these characteristics, along with their speed, and often retreat to underground
burrows. Together with hares, they make up family Leporidae, and with both hares and pikas,
order Lagomorpha (lagomorphs). They are one of the only species of animal simultaneously
considered pets, pests, and livestock animals by people in the same culture.
Rabbits are small, furry, mammals with long ears, short fluffy tails, and strong, large hind
legs. They have 2 pairs of sharp incisors (front teeth), one pair on top and one pair on the bottom.
They also have 2 peg teeth behind the top incisors. Their teeth are specifically adapted for
gnawing and grow continuously throughout their lives.
Using their powerful hind legs, rabbits move by hopping. They have 4 toes on their hind
feet that are long and webbed to keep them from spreading apart as they jump. Their front paws
have 5 toes each. Some species of rabbit can reach speeds of 35 to 45 miles per hour (55 to 70
kilometers per hour). Young rabbits seem to walk instead of hop.
Rabbits vary in color and size, ranging in weight from 2 to 16 pounds (1 to 7 kilograms),
depending on breed. Pet rabbits that have been well taken care of and spayed or neutered early in
life have a life expectancy of 8 to 12 years.
Although they mostly live in temperate areas located in the middle latitudes of the Americas,
Europe, and Africa, rabbits can live in a variety of environments. They are also found in India,
Sumatra, and Japan. These animals can be white, brown, gray, or brownish-yellow in color, with
the black Amami and two striped black species from Asia being exceptions.

sign, and the villagers began to throw the limestone they had collected before into the hole. The
limestone made the water inside the hole boiling. Kebo Iwo was buried alive. Then the water in

One day, in an Arabian city, a woman went to the market and bought a beautiful hen. A few
days later to her surprise the hen she bought laid a silver egg. If the hen could only be persuaded
to lay more than one egg each day, the woman was sure she would never have to work again.
So the woman decided to make the hen eat more, so that it could lay more eggs. But the only
result was that the hen died of indigestion and did not lay more eggs at all.
