BUSINESS DYNAMICS IN THE 21ST CENTURY

While reading the data sets of Euromonitor, I noticed that the pandemic has influenced the dynamics
of conducting businesses as well as strategies that will not just set the growth of the company but also create
wall will protect the businesses from uncertainties and vulnerabilities. I also noticed the role of each agent of
the society in giving pressure to the government to act on issues and concerns that provide channels that will
promote economic growth through business operations.
At this point, the whole world is trying to recover from the effects of the pandemic on multi-dimensional
level. From grassroots to national level, the operation of businesses has been tested and unfortunately for
others, some businesses were forced out of the market as they failed to adapt to the rapid changes in the
dynamics of business strategies. The article presented business dynamics indicators that that revolve around
six themes. These themes include: Future of Work, Age of online Academia, Technology at the Core, The Gig
Economy , Reskilling Investment and Supply Chains Reimagined. With these themes set, I saw their relevance in
operating businesses after the pandemic or while we are still trying to recover from it. One aspect that was
highlighted in the data is how friendly and competitive the business environment is. Again, coming from the
pandemic perspective, it was very difficult to conduct businesses due to different restrictions which are either
political or medical in nature. I remember one news clip on New Zealand’s strategies and policies with regard
to combating the pandemic. As everyone else, they were quite aware of the threat but they tried to address it
proactively, thereby empowering medical field and sustaining the health of the people. All these without the
need to lock up people in their homes for a long time. The result of this measure is worthy of praise. They
became the safest country amidst the pandemic, this resulted in the drastic increase in the prices of real estates
in the country. As wealthy people from other countries try to move to New Zealand because of its pandemic
measures and the sound political structures. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said in the Philippines. The
pandemic measures of the Philippines were not sound or business friendly so to speak. Being a young
entrepreneur, I experienced the delays in the delivery of my goods, additional requirements and unjustifiable
documents and fees that I have to secure. There wasn’t also much protection given to up and coming businesses
since the government is geared towards generating revenues to those who need assistance but failed to assist
the ones giving assistance.
In addition, I think there is a huge connection between upskilling the workforce and improving the
education system through technology. The dynamics of the workforce now has changed since hybrid working

set up has been implement and that it poses great potential to make the business resilient to external shocks.
Based on what I see, the workforce now understand and recognizes the importance of technology and the need
to incorporate in the business. Seeing how workers who have not gone to formal school create video contents
and edit the video in a way a professional would is an indication that technology is a force we cannot avoid. I
think by investing in education and technical skills development, the workforce may level up their skills and
won’t just rely on employment opportunities but become freelancers in different fields.
In a world where uncertainties and complex innovations challenge the resilience of a business, it is
important to take note of how businesses should see the challenges as an opportunity to adapt to technologies
that will usher them to a prosperous future. Afterall, when one starts a business, there isn’t any other way that
motivates but to move forward.
