Observations regarding the children’s responses towards the experiments of Piaget

cognitive development theory at different age levels

While observing the videos, the information which is received by us is that the development

of the child is divided in four stages according to the Piaget development theory of cognition.

At the age level of 0-2 the child uses their senses of touch, smell, taste and listen to adapt the

surrounding world for example, the child is in walker gave responses to the lady who was

sitting in front of the child and covered her face with her hands and attracted the child

towards herself and the child gave responses according to the facial expressions of the lady

while listening the noises in the surroundings. Moreover, in between the time period of 2-6

years, the pre-operational development stage introduced where the children recognize the

objects after giving the information regarding the aspects, three years old child counting the

blocks and gave opinion about it, when the instructor asked about the length of the objects,

first the children failed to give the right answers but after giving the clarification regarding

the reasons why the length of the objects which are placed in the first row are longer than

other, the children abled to learn. Also, the answers of the questions were not accurate but the

children viewed their opinion, the teacher asked where you want to place the third eye, the

children said on their belly as the answer given according to personal interests without

analysis the question. Furthermore, the children able to give the answer accurately in between

the age group of 6-11 as, according to Piaget theory of cognitive development, the concrete

operational stage of development followed by the children, the individual, as an example,

showed different color balls to children and the children recognized the shape of the balls

from their colors also, the quantity of the water as well as analysed by the children even the

different size of glasses were there in front of the children. In addition to these, at the formal

operational stage of development, the children up to the age of eleven able to think rationally,

gave answers of hypothetical questions, solve the problems and theoretical answers also

given by them. For example, the teacher gave the statements regarding hypothesis, logics,

predictions and the experiments, the girl wrote the answers on the board in front of statements

while thinking critically according to the statement’s requirement after that responded to the

questions.

To conclude, after the observations it is cleared that cognitive development theory of Piaget

has four stages, sensorimotor, pre-operational, concrete operational and formal operational

development. The children learn through experiences and enhance their knowledge while

following different age periods 0-2, 2-6, 6-11 and up to 11 respectively.
