Objectives:
1. Identify and analyze the different features and requirements of the
résumé and application letter for employment.
2. Realize the importance of understanding the résumé and application to the
different contexts or situations.

and requirements.

CONCEPT

You have been wondering how other people being hired in some famous
companies or the work that they are dreaming of to have. Maybe you
are also asking yourself how those people get that job what might be
the key/s to achieve that goal. These keys talk about how good you are
at making a résumé and application letter. These two are intertwined
with one another because these cater to your great interest in a certain
job and become predominant among the other applicants. This module
helps you discover the different features and requirements needed to in
making a well-designed résumé and application letter.

background, and the things that you can contribute to the company
that you are dreaming of to belong.

- Résumé is originated from the French word résumé which means


“summary”. It is a concise document that highlights your education,
work experience, and other qualification such as your skills and
strengths. On the other hand, employment application letter is widely
known as a “cover letter”. It is used to introduce yourself to a
prospective employer.

Parts of Résumé

a. Heading – consists of the applicant’s name, address, contact number, and


e-mail address.
b. Career Objectives – The objective that tells the employer the applicant’s
goal or aim in applying for the job.
c. Experience – Usually the job experience is arranged beginning with the
most recent.
d. Education – It shows the college or university where the applicant is
studying or have graduated from, the address of the school, the degree or
course, and the date of graduation.
e. References – usually placed at the end of the résumé, indicates the people
who could vouch for the quality of the applicant’s work, his/her integrity, and
professionalism.

Parts of a Business Letter
A cover letter or an application letter is expected to accompany the
résumé. Since application letters are such an essential part of the work
application process, they must adhere to certain standards. The various
components of a business letter are listed below.
1. Heading – contains the sender’s address and the date the letter is written.
2. Inside Address – consists of the name of the receiver, his/her position,
affiliation, and address.
3. Salutation – greeting of the letter that begins with “Dear” or “My dear”
followed by the receiver’s name.
4. Body of the letter – contains the message of the letter.
5. Complimentary Close – The formal closing of the letter suggested by “Truly
yours, “Respectfully,” “Sincerely yours,”
6. Signature- includes the name and signature of the sender.
