ABSTRACT

The Human Resource Department is the most important asset of an organization. The
success and failure of an organization largely depends on the caliber of the employees working
in. without a positive and creative contribution from the employee, an organization can’t not
progress and prosper.

In order to achieve the goals of an organization, therefore, we need to recruit people

with requisite skills, qualification and experience. While, doing so we have to keep the present
as well as the future requirement of the organization in mind. Recruitment is defined as ‘a
process to discover the sources of manpower to meet the requirement of staffing schedule and
to employ effective measures for attracting that manpower in adequate numbers to facilitate
effective selection of an efficient workforce. In order to attract people, an organization
communicates the positions in such a way that job seekers respond. To be cost effective, the
recruitment process should attract qualified applicants.

Recruiters work on resumes by actively soliciting qualified individuals for positions. A

recruiter’s job includes reviewing candidates’ job experiences, negotiating salaries and placing
candidates in agreeable employment positions. Recruiters typically receive a fee from hiring
employers.

My research project deals with SOURCING & RECRUITEMENT as carried out by

Let’s Get Cured – Clinic & Training which is a consultant HR firm. During the execution of
project and research I have studied and evaluated the souring and recruitment process which
was practiced in the organization. This exposure gave me opportunity to have an insight to their
practical application. I was working under the guidance of HR and was assisting her with the
work. It was a great experience for me to learn and get a real experience of working in a
corporate environment.

1.1.1 INTRODUCTION OF HUMAN RESOURCE:

Human resources is used to describe both the people who work for a company or
organization and the department responsible for managing resources related to employees. The
term human resources was first coined in the 1960s when the value of labor relations began to
garner attention and when notions such as motivation, organizational behavior, and selection
assessments began to take shape. Human resource management is a contemporary, umbrella
term used to describe the management and development of employees in an organization. Also
called personnel or talent management (although these terms are a bit antiquated), human
resource management involves overseeing all things related to managing an organization’s
human capital. Human resource management is therefore focused on a number of major areas,
including:

 Recruiting and staffing

 Compensation and benefits
 Training and learning
 Labor and employee relations
 Organization development

Recruitment is the first step in procurement function. The importance of manpower

planning in every business is increasing due to increase in global competitiveness and increase
in labor market flexibility. Recruitment function is one of the important parts of an
organization’s Human Resource Planning. It serves fulfilling organizations’ need by enabling
it to have a set of competitive, motivated, flexible and more adoptable Human Resources which
can ensure continued operation for fulfillment of organizations’ objective. Competent Human
Resources at the right positions are crucial for the organization and constitute core competency.
The organization reaps strategic advantage out of it. Recruitment helps in creating a pool of
prospective employees for the organizations, so that the right candidates for the right jobs can
be selected from this pool. So it becomes important to understand the process of recruitment.

1.2 COURSES PROVIDED:

 Hijama Cupping Therapy: It is a historical form of alternative medicine that drains

substances and toxins from the body to stimulate healing.

Cupping therapy is one of the oldest and most effective method of releasing the toxins
from body tissue and organs. It is also known as vacuum cupping, hijama cupping, horn
treatment etc. It is a practice in which the therapist puts special cups on the skin to create
suction.

This causes the tissue beneath the cup to be drawn up and swell causing increase
in blood flow to affected area. Enhanced blood flow under the cups draws impurities and
toxins away from the nearby tissues and organs towards the surface for elimination.

There are different ways to perform cupping. The steps vary slightly depending on the chosen
method. Your provider will leave the cups in place for several minutes. Some treatments
involve briefly moving the cups to stretch and massage the area.

Depending on the treatment, your provider may place multiple cups on your skin. Cupping
methods include:

 Dry: Your provider heats the inside of each cup — typically with an alcohol-soaked
cotton ball that is set aflame. The heat sends oxygen out of the cup, creating a vacuum.
Some providers use a suction device to remove air from cups. Once placed on your
skin, the vacuum force pulls skin up into the cup.
 Wet/bleeding: Your provider uses a needle to lightly puncture your skin before, and
sometimes after, cupping. Toxins leave the body through the puncture wounds during
the cupping procedure.
 Running cupping: Involves moving suctioned cups around the body after applying
oil to massage the desired area

 Flash cupping: Involves quick, repeated suction and release of cups on an area of
the body.

12 | P a g e
Cupping may also involve the use of:

 Acupuncture needles

 Moxibustion, or the burning of Mugwort leaves

 Magnets

 Laser Therapy

 Chemical Peeling: Provide a solution to many skin conditions including scarring and
antiaging.

A chemical peel is a procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove
the top layers. The skin that grows back is smoother. Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles,
discoloured skin and scars — usually on the face. They can be done alone or combined with
other cosmetic procedures.

Why Chemical Peeling is done?

A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing procedure. Chemical peels can't remove deep scars or
wrinkles or tighten sagging skin.

 Light chemical peel: A light (superficial) chemical peel removes the outer layer of
skin (epidermis). It's used to treat fine wrinkles, acne, uneven skin tone and dryness.

 Medium chemical peel: A medium chemical peel removes skin cells from the
epidermis and from portions of the upper part of your middle layer of skin (dermis). It's
used to treat wrinkles, acne scars and uneven skin tone.

 Deep chemical peel: A deep chemical peel removes skin cells even deeper. Your doctor
might recommend one for deeper wrinkles, scars or precancerous growths.

What Conditions does a Chemical Peel treat?

 Fine lines under your eyes or around your mouth and wrinkling caused by sun damage,
aging and hereditary factors.
 Certain types of acne.
 Mild scarring.
 Sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, uneven skin coloring.
 Rough skin, scaly patches, dull complexion.
 Dark patches (melasma) due to pregnancy or taking birth control pills.

16 | P a g e
17 | P a g e
Types of Chemical Peeling:

There are three different types of chemical peels that you can get. These include:

 Superficial peels: Alpha-hydroxy acid or another mild acid is used to penetrate only
the outer layer of skin to gently exfoliate it. The treatment is used to improve the
appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin as well as to refresh the face,
neck, chest or hands.

 Medium peels: Glycolic or trichloroacetic acid is applied to penetrate the out and
middle layers of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment is used to improve
age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration. It also can
be used to smooth rough skin and treat some precancerous skin growths, i.e. actinic
keratosis.

 Deep peels: Trichloroacetic acid or phenol is applied to deeply penetrate the middle
layer of skin to remove damaged skin cells. The treatment removes moderate lines, age
spots, freckles and shallow scars. Patients will see a dramatic improvement in skin
appearance. The procedure is used on the face and only can be performed once.

How do you prepare for a chemical peel?

Before your procedure, you’ll first have a consultation with the skin care specialist. During this
visit, they’ll help you determine what the best treatment option is for you. They’ll let you know
the details about the specific peel you’ll be getting, and they’ll ask about anything that could
interfere with the peel. This may include whether you’ve taken acne medication, and
information about whether or not you scar easily.

Before a chemical peel, you must:

 Should not use any type of retinol or retina-A topical medication for at least 48 hours.

 Should inform your skin care specialist about any medications you take.

 Should not have been on Accutane for at least six months.

18 | P a g e
Risks for Having the Chemical Peeling:

 Redness, scabbing and swelling: Normal healing from a chemical peel involves
redness of the treated skin. After a medium or deep chemical peel, redness might last for
a few months.

 Scarring: Rarely, a chemical peel can cause scarring — typically on the lower part of
the face. Antibiotics and steroid medications can be used to soften the appearance of these
scars.

 Changes in skin colour: A chemical peel can cause treated skin to become darker
than normal (hyperpigmentation) or lighter than normal (hypopigmentation).
Hyperpigmentation is more common after superficial peels.

 Infection: A chemical peel can lead to a bacterial, fungal or viral infection, such as a
flare-up of the herpes virus — the virus that causes cold sores.

 Heart, kidney or liver damage: A deep chemical peel uses carbolic acid (phenol),
which can damage heart muscle and cause the heart to beat irregularly. Phenol can also
harm the kidneys and liver. To limit exposure to phenol, a deep chemical peel is done a
portion at a time, in 10- to 20-minute intervals.

 Arthritis
 Back pain, neck pain or muscle pain
 Headaches and migraines
 Knee pain
 Menstrual cramps
 Sports injuries

Why it’s done?

Acupuncture is used mainly to relieve discomfort associated with a variety of diseases and
conditions, including:

 Chemotherapy-induced and postoperative nausea and vomiting

 Dental pain

 Fibromyalgia

 Headaches, including tension headaches and migraines

 Labor pain

 Lower back pain

 Neck pain

 Osteoarthritis

 Menstrual cramps

 Respiratory disorders, such as allergic rhinitis

 Tennis elbow

25 | P a g e
Types of Acupuncture Therapy:

Acupuncture is an excellent technique to relieve tension and improve blood flow in your body.
Check out these eight popular types of acupuncture and discover how they work:

Type - 1: Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

This type of acupuncture examines the body's internal and external functions from all meridian
points. Using ancient Chinese medical practices, the patients receive a treatment plan based on
a tongue examination. Typically, the treatment focuses on healing one part of the body, such
as alleviating back pain. If you experience illnesses like depression, migraines, and sleep
problems, taking so much medication can feel exhausting. The traditional Chinese medicine
acupuncture allows you to manage your health along with other treatment methods. It releases
stress in your meridian points, helping you sleep better and relieving your painful headaches.

Type - 2: Japanese Acupuncture

Unlike Chinese acupuncture that focuses on healing one health condition, the Japanese version
tackles the entire body. However, it is also gentle and relatively painless, with many
practitioners importing disposable needles from Japan. The process uses fewer needles with
shallow depth compared to other methods. The insertion tube controls the depth of the prick to
reduce discomfort.

26 | P a g e
Type - 3: Korean Hand Therapy

Do you feel pain in your hands from texting so much? In this era of remote work, typing
endlessly on your computer or mobile phone can cause side effects like aches and slight
tremors. Korean Hand Therapy is a way to resolve whatever pain you feel in your hands and
other parts of your body.

With a needle applicator, the acupuncturist inserts about twenty special hand needles for 20 to
30 minutes. They also use silver and gold metal pellets to locate the meridians. Unlike other
methods, you can combine Korean Hand Therapy with different acupuncture types.

27 | P a g e
Type - 4: Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture uses the ear as the connection point to other parts of the body. According
to Ancient Oriental medicine, the ear contains acupuncture points that can heal the body. By
inserting regular acupuncture needles into the ear, the acupuncturists seek to trigger chemicals
that eradicate mood swings, toxins, and allergies.

Type - 5: Scalp Acupuncture

Scalp acupuncture uses the same process as auricular acupuncture. The difference is that the
needles penetrate the skin on your head. It is a safe, reliable treatment that stimulates the brain
cells, encouraging them to become revitalized. This type of acupuncture addresses conditions
associated with brain function. It is commonly used after a stroke or brain surgery therapy.

28 | P a g e
Type - 6: Cupping Therapy

Cupping involves using rubber or glass suction cups to stimulate blood flow to specific points
in the body. Usually performed at the same time with needle acupuncture, the cups stay on the
skin surface. The suction provides relief from muscle pain and inflammation. It also eliminates
toxins in the blood flow.

With wet cupping, the therapist makes small incisions on your skin after removing the cups to
let out some blood. Cupping is popular for treating blood poisoning, anemia, and high blood
pressure. However, the redness and scarring will disappear after approximately ten days.

Type - 7: Electro Acupuncture

It's hard treating chronic pain with medication since many painkillers notoriously lead to
addiction. Electro Acupuncture provides an alternative route to seeking relief from chronic
pain. The charge improves the blood supply and triggers the body's natural pain relief. It also
boosts energy flow between both points.

29 | P a g e
Type - 8: Moxibustion Acupuncture

Compared to traditional acupuncture methods, this treatment involves heat. Moxibustion

provides a relaxing experience for patients with plants. In this treatment, the therapist lights
mugwort herb over the needles. The burning plant warms the meridians to improve circulation
and digestion. Moxibustion is used to treat other conditions like insomnia, anxiety, pain
management, and respiratory diseases.

Risks for using Acupuncture Treatment:

The risks of acupuncture are low if you have a competent, certified acupuncture practitioner
using sterile needles. Common side effects include soreness and minor bleeding or bruising
where the needles were inserted.

Before having acupuncture treatment, be sure to tell the practitioner if you:

 Have a bleeding disorder: Your chances of bleeding or bruising from the needles
may be increased if you have a bleeding disorder or if you're taking blood thinners.

 Have a pacemaker: Acupuncture that involves applying mild electrical pulses to the
needles may potentially interfere with a pacemaker's operation.

 Are pregnant: Some acupuncture points are thought to stimulate labor, which could
result in a premature delivery.

30 | P a g e
Other conditions acupuncture may help include:

 Cancer and cancer treatment side effects.

 Face pain and other nerve discomfort.
 Infertility.
 Irritable bowel syndrome.
 Pregnancy discomforts.
 Repetitive strain disorders and overuse syndrome.

Benefits for Acupuncture Therapy:

 People can effectively combine acupuncture with other treatments.

 Effective acupuncture can help manage chronic pain, migraine, and headaches.

 Acupuncture carries a low risk of side effects.

 It is a flexible form of treatment that can target numerous health concerns at

once.

31 | P a g e
 Kinesiology Taping: A medical taping technique that soothes pain and stimulates
lymphatic drainage by microscopically lifting the skin.

Kinesiology taping is a treatment option if you've had an injury or illness that leads to
mobility and motor function problems. It can be used to help facilitate muscle function,
stabilize joints, or inhibit muscles from contracting improperly. It can also be used to help
decrease pain, swelling, and muscle spasm. The Kinesio Taping Method is a pain recovery
method which is designed to accentuate the body’s natural healing process by providing
support and stability to muscles and joints, without restricting the body’s motion.

This method also provides extended soft tissue manipulation to prolong the benefits of
therapy. Kinesiology Tapes promote body awareness to correct postures and movement pattern
dysfunction. It's ideal for 'text neck' and other common posture issues.

The scientific study of human movement, performance and function. Kinesiology

incorporates the sciences of biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, psychology and neuroscience
into an all-encompassing healthcare practice.

32 | P a g e
How Kinesiology Tape Works?

Kinesiology tape serves different functions when applied. Before you start using it, your
physical therapist will perform an evaluation and assessment to determine the best use of
kinesiology tape for your condition. They will assess whether the tape is necessary for you or
if you have any contraindications to using the tape.

In general, it is thought that kinesiology tape helps to create balance in the neural circuitry in
muscles, tendons, joints, and skin. This is thought to work to reduce pain and decrease swelling.
It's meant to improve muscle performance and function. Kinesiology tape is also thought to
realign joint positions, and it may also be useful in remodelling collagen tissues such as in scar
tissue management.

33 | P a g e
Types of Kinesiology Tape:

Some of the taping types include:

 The "I" strip: This shape can be used to make the other types of strips below.
Typically "I" strips are used to support muscles, tendons, and ligaments. They are often
used to facilitate your rotator cuff, gluteus muscles, quadriceps, or Achilles' tendon. It
can also be used on your low back and middle back to help you maintain proper posture.
 The "X" strip: This type is used when kinesiology tape is needed to cover a large
area or cross multiple joints. The tabs of the "X" strip cross over sensitive areas such as
the back of your knees or front of your elbows. This strip is commonly used to facilitate
your hamstrings, which cross both your hip joint and the back part of your knee joint.
 The "Y" strip: This strip is used to cross sensitive areas of your body such as behind
your knee or in the front of your elbow. It is also commonly used for applications to
control the position of your kneecap as in patellofemoral stress syndrome or a subluxing
patella. The "Y" strip is typically not as long as the "X" strip.
 The "fan" strip: This type can help control swelling of your leg or arm. It is
commonly used in lymphedema management or for superficial contusions and
swelling.
 The "lift" strip: Commonly referred to as the Band-Aid, this strip is often used to
support injured tissues or to treat muscle knots or trigger points. It helps to lift skin and
tissues off of sore muscles and trigger points. It is also used to treat superficial bruises.

Specifications:

 Multipurpose - Can be used to treat injuries like an ankle sprain, groin pull,
hamstring strain, knee injury, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runner's knee, back pain,
and other muscle & joint pain. Best for pain recovery, pain relief, posture correction,
and movement pattern dysfunction.
 Designed for all - Can be used by men, women, and children of all ages, or as
medically prescribed.
 Dimensions - 5 CM (breadth) X5 M (width).
 Variations - Available in three different colors Blue, Green and Red.

34 | P a g e
Side Effects for using Kinesiology Therapy:

 Fatigue
 Migraine – Associated vertigo
 None
 Whole body joint ache

Specific Uses:

 Facilitation: Kinesiology tape can be used to help improve muscular firing and
contraction patterns. This can lead to normalized muscular tone and can also help
improve athletic performance.
 Inhibition and pain management: Kinesiology tape can be used to help
decrease pain and muscle spasms that may occur after injury. It can help decrease
nociceptive input to the brain which can help decrease muscle guarding and protective
spasms.
 Support and stability: If you have a condition that requires a specific joint to be
held in place, kinesiology taping may be right for you. Conditions like patellofemoral
stress syndrome, iliotibial band friction syndrome, or shoulder instability may benefit
from extra support provided by kinesiology tape. The tape can support your joint while
still allowing for some motion.

35 | P a g e
 Swelling management: If you have had swelling from an injury or surgery,
kinesiology tape may help decrease the swelling by decreasing pressure between the
skin and underlying tissues. This provides a pathway for excess fluids that have
accumulated since your injury to travel through.
 Scar tissue management: After surgery or trauma, you may have a scar over the
area that was injured. Sometimes the tissue underneath the scar binds to your skin and
underlying fascia. This scar tissue can limit your normal mobility and range of
motion. Kinesiology tape can be used to gently pull on scar tissue, providing a low-
intensity, long-duration stretch to the tight collagen that makes up scar tissue.

Benefits of Kinesiology Therapy:

 It helps your body restore balance (homeostasis)

 Helps release stress and anxiety
 Helps process shock and trauma
 Releases emotional triggers or reactions
 Helps you become proactive rather than reactive
 Releases negative emotional effects of depression, guilt, anger, phobias, addictions
 Can help locate the cause of physical symptoms
 Helps with social interaction and relationship problems
 Assists with learning difficulties and concentration
 Assists with motivation and life direction.
 Helps clear the cause of procrastination
 Improves clarity, focus, awareness
 Assists with feeling stuck or disconnected
 Aligns your energy with your goals

5.1 CONCLUSION

The internship program was a great opportunity for me to interact with the team
members. This internship has been a very useful experience for me. I can safely say that my
understanding of the job environment has increased greatly. My experience began with
recruitment, which later on became my main field of focus in the internship. I started out by
creating letters of acceptance or denial for applicants who applied for a job opening. Once I
would finish a batch of letters, I would then review the candidates with Zainab and we would
discuss why or why not they fit the position.

This was critical information because Zainab is a very experienced mentor with
valuable insight accumulated over many years of practice. She informed me of specific red
flags to look for with candidates, as well as certain things that are usually a solid indicator of a
good match. I then moved on to reviewing resumes and making reference calls. I enjoyed
making the reference calls above all the other tasks because to me it was a different puzzle each
time to try and figure out what questions to ask and it was all “in the moment” decision-making.
To me this was a rush, thinking on your feet quickly in order to figure out how to solve the
puzzle.

Eventually I began taking care of the mass mailings as well as organizing and
maintaining the employee files. A great learning experience I encountered was training our
newly hired head accountant who is a Nichols College alumni. Since I had much experience
with the position he was about to enter I gave him all the notes I took and guided him through
his first week to make sure he became properly acclimated. Outside of recruitment, I did some
extensive work in updating our benefits lists as well as gained a deeper knowledge about all
the benefits our company has to offer.

This is a Brief of my 1 ½ month experience at Let’s Get Cured – Clinic & Training as
a HR Intern. An internship is a short-term work experience. Through this HR internship I will
be getting a real exposure to an office environment and get to learn various HR activities and
soft skills such as communication skills, presentation skills, Negotiations skills, problem
solving, and more. It can also be considered as a trailer for me before entering into the big
corporate world.

42 | P a g e
Taking an internship helps to learn about the work environment, but it also helps you learn
about yourself. You will have a much clear idea of your own strengths, weaknesses, likes and
dislikes. Most importantly, knowing that you have hands-on experience will give you more
confidence when it comes to job seeking and interviews. Looking Forward, I still have a lot to
Learn and gain Practical exposure on how HR operations go.

I. INTRODUCTION
HRM is concerned with the human beings in an organization. “The management of
man” is a very important and challenging job because of the dynamic nature of the people.
No two people are similar in mental abilities, tacticians, sentiments, and behaviors; they differ
widely also as a group and are subject to many varied influences. People are responsive, they
feel, think and act therefore they cannot be operated like a machine or shifted and altered like
template in a room layout. They therefore need a tactful handing by management personnel.”

44 | P a g e
HRM is the process of managing people of an organization with a human approach.
Human resources approach to manpower enables the manager to view the people as an
important resource. It is the approach through which organization can utilize the manpower
not only for the benefits of the organization but for the growth, development and self-
satisfaction of the concerned people. Thus, HRM is a system that focuses on human resources
development on one hand and effective management of people on the other hand so that
people will enjoy human dignity in their employment.
HRM is involved in providing human dignity to the employees taking into account
their capacity, potentially, talents, achievement, motivation, skill, commitment, great
abilities, and so on. So, that their personalities are recognized as valuable human beings. If
an organization can trust, depend and draw from their bank account on the strength of their
capital assets, they can trust, depend and draw more on their committed, talented, dedicated
and capable people. This is what the HRM is involved in every business, managerial activity
or introduction.
The principal component of an organization is its human resource or ‘people at work’.
According to Leon C. Megginson from the national point of view Human Resources as, “the
knowledge, skills, creative abilities, talents and aptitudes obtained in the population;
whereas from the view point of the individual enterprise, they represent the total of inherent
abilities, acquired knowledge and skills as exemplified in the talents and aptitudes of its
employees.”
Human resource has a paramount importance in the success of any organization
because most of the problems in organizational setting are human and social rather than
physical, technical or economical failure. In the words of Oliver Shelden, “No industry can
be rendered efficient so long as the basic fact remains unrecognized that it is principally
human.”

II. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

 To study the level of emotional intelligence among the employees at work place.
 To find out the level of quality of work life among the employees.
 To find out whether there is any difference in the level of quality of life among the
employees with high and low emotional intelligence.
 To determine the relation between emotional intelligence and quality of life among the
employees at their work place

III. REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Generally, emotions play a significant role in individual's lives because they are
feelings which enliven life, allowing us to experience the joys and grief of our lives. Human
beings has two minds, a thinking mind and a feeling one .These two minds, put together, form
an individual's mental life. When the emotions are aroused, the balance between these two
minds is disturbed, causing the emotional intelligence (mind) to overcome the thinking mind.
Therefore, the focus has shifted towards the role of emotional intelligence in everyday life. It
is up to the leadership to direct the organizations to a positive direction since leadership can
influence the emotions most of all.
Emotional intelligence is a kind of readiness, skill and capability which deeply affects
an individual's abilities so that he /she may be motivated, control his/her emotions and
manage his/her relationship with others. On the other hand, people with emotional
intelligence are able to control their feelings as well as others', distinguish between the
positive and negative consequences, utilize their affective data in order to lead their own
thoughts and activities and provide themselves with more opportunities to think and be more
creative and to aim their emotions and feelings at solving their own problems.
Emotional intelligence can be defined as the ability to monitor one's own and other
people's emotions, to discriminate between different emotions and label them appropriately,
and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior. Emotional intelligence
also reflects abilities to join intelligence, empathy and emotions to enhance thought and
understanding of interpersonal dynamics.
Emotional intelligence is an increasingly popular consulting tool. According to
popular opinion and work-place testimonials, emotional intelligence increases performance
and productivity; however, there has been a general lack of independent, systematic analysis
substantiating that claim. The authors investigated whether emotional intelligence would
account for increases in individual cognitive-based performance over and above the level
attributable to traditional general intelligence.
Quality of Work Life (QWL) is a relatively new concept which is defined as the
overall quality of an individual's working life. QWL is sometimes considered as a sub-
concept of the broad concept of quality of life, which refers to the overall quality of an
individual’s life. Quality of life includes factors such as income, health, social relationships,
and other factors such as happiness and fulfillment.

46 | P a g e
QWL is the favorableness or unfavorableness of a job environment for people; it
refers to the quality of relationship between employees and the total working environment.
Quality of work life is the employees' reaction with regard to their job, particularly
the individual results in job context and mental health which stress the personal results,
occupational experience and how to improve one's job to meet individual needs

Functions of HRM:
Human Resources management has an important role to play in equipping
organizations to meet the challenges of an expanding and increasingly competitive sector.
Increase in staff numbers, contractual diversification and changes in demographic profile
which compel the HR managers to reconfigure the role and significance of human resources
management.
The functions are responsive to current staffing needs, but can be proactive in
reshaping organizational objectives. All the functions of HRM are correlated with the core
objectives of HRM. For example personal objectives are sought to be realized through
functions like remuneration, assessment etc.
Following are the Functions of HRM:
1. Strategic HR Management: As a part of maintaining organizational
competitiveness, strategic planning for HR effectiveness can be increased through the use
of HR metrics and HR technology. Human resource planning (HRP) function determine
the number and type of employees needed to accomplish organizational goals. HRP
includes creating venture teams with a balanced skill-mix, recruiting the right people, and
voluntary team assignment. This function analyzes and determines personnel needs in
order to create effective innovation teams. The basic HRP strategies are staffing and
employee development.
2. Equal Employment Opportunity: Compliance with equal employment
opportunity (EEO) laws and regulations affect all other HR activities.
3. Staffing: The aim of staffing is to provide a sufficient supply of qualified individuals
to fill jobs in an organization. Job analysis, recruitment and selection are the main
functions under staffing. Workers job design and job analysis laid the foundation for
staffing by identifying what diverse people do in their jobs and how they are affected by
them.

47 | P a g e
Job analysis is the process of describing the nature of a job and specifying the
human requirements such as knowledge, skills and experience needed to perform the job.
The end result of job analysis is job description. Job description spells out work duties and
activities of employees. Through HR planning, managers anticipate the future supply of
and demand for employees and the nature of workforce issues, including the retention of
employees.
So HRP precedes the actual selection of people for organization. These factors
are used when recruiting applicants for job openings. The selection process is concerned
with choosing qualified individuals to fill those jobs. In the selection function, the most
qualified applicants are selected for hiring from among the applicants based on the extent
to which their abilities and skills are matching with the job.
4. Talent Management and Development: Beginning with the orientation of
new employees, talent management and development includes different types of training.
Orientation is the first step towards helping a new employee to adjust himself with the new
job and the employer. It is a method to acquaint new employees with particular aspects of
their new job, including pay and benefit programmers, working hours and company rules
and expectations. Training and Development programs provide useful means of assuring
that the employees are capable of performing their jobs at acceptable levels and also more
than that. All the organizations provide training for new and inexperienced employee. In
addition, organization often provide both on the job and off the job training programmers
for those employees whose jobs are undergoing change.
5. Risk Management and Worker Protection: HRM addresses various
workplace risks to ensure protection of workers by meeting legal requirements and being
more responsive to concern for workplace health and safety along with disaster and
recovery planning.
6. Employee and Labor Relations: The relationship between managers and their
employees must be handled legally and effectively. Employer and employee rights must
be addressed. It is important to develop, communicate and update HR policies and
procedures so that managers and employees alike know what is expected. In some
organizations, union/management relations must be addressed as well.
