Some universities expect the students to choose a major field of study when

they enter the school; while other universities wait until the second or the third
year before students decide to choose a major field of study. Which do you
prefer? Why or why not?

In my opinion, during one or two years of university, students should choose their
main field of study.

First of all, most students struggle to decide their majors when they enter university. I
am still a high school student, but I also have no idea about what I want to do in the
future. After I enter university and spend some time thinking about my field, I will
have more confidence and understanding of what I want to do.

Furthermore, because they would have been given more time to consider their
options, students who decided on their majors in their second or third years were
less likely to drop out of university, losing either their time and money.

To summarize, I can argue that the main field of study should be decided after the
second or the third year.
