POSITION TITLE: SENIOR INSTRUMENTATION ENGINEER

Job Description
1. JOB SCOPE:

Study and develop conceptual designs, prepare detailed engineering solutions, plan,
monitor and coordinate all assigned modifications and projects in conjunction with project
management and end user team for a wide range of tasks related to discipline scope. Act
as a key focal point for discipline engineering aspects for the in-house
engineering/subcontracted engineering and review the design/engineering work conducted
in line with defined requirements, industry best practices and contractual agreements.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Description

Project Management

Act as a technical expert for all matters related to Instrumentation & Control systems across
assigned projects, ensuring timely provision of efficient and reliable services to solve
technical issues in the production plant.

Support in efficient and cost-effective delivery of Instrumentation & Control systems


services for assigned projects. Participate in costing and preparation of budgets for
Instrumentation & Control systems engineering projects for company.

Carry out feasibility studies and comprehensive testing to support financial and technical
viability of new Instrumentation & Control systems and provide recommendations as
appropriate. Develop specifications of Instrumentation & Control systems associated with
new projects.

Coordinate Instrumentation & Control systems engineering review and approval of design,
equipment and interface with contractors and vendors on company’s requirement.

Ensure projects’ Instrumentation & Control systems engineering activities are executed
according to specifications, within budget, with the contract scope of work and meets the
time schedules while highlighting any non-conformances to the reporting company
supervisor.

Gather and analyze pertinent data and information and prepare recommendations with
supporting technical data for the effective development of specifications and equipment
data sheets.

matters for proper interdisciplinary communications related to the project, working closely
with project teams to support achievement of project deliverables.
Carryout technical reviews of all areas of work covered under Instrumentation & Control
systems engineering projects while evaluating requests and recommending appropriate
solutions and proposing changes as necessary within the defined project scope and
protocols to facilitate achievement of defined objectives.

3. Design and Engineering:

Sets up and executes assigned engineering activities such as detailed design, verification
and studies relevant to any engineering topic associated to discipline, pursuing objectives
of sound engineering and design optimization in term of costs, fabrication simplicity and
safety.
Prepares design specifications for field instruments, PLC/DCS Control systems, Fire & Gas
systems, analysers, Vibration monitoring systems etc.
Participate in technical discussions to resolve technical problems. Provide cost effective
engineering solutions based on good engineering practices, codes and standards.
Prepare orifice sizing calculations, control valve sizing calculations, thermo well wake
frequency calculations etc.
Detailed engineering works such as preparation of instrument layouts, hook up drawings,
loop drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedule, interface drawings etc.
Prepare Instrumentation & Control systems specifications for Package items such as
compressors, blowers, pumps, tanks etc.
Prepare PLC/DCS functional logic diagrams based on the Control Narrative, Cause &
effect etc.
Participate in LOPA analysis and HAZOP meetings.
Issue Purchase Requisitions and perform technical bid evaluations.
Prepares MTOs and BOQs.

4. Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management
procedures.

To work closely with HSE and Quality on related tasks such as process safety, maintaining
and updating system documentation.

8. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILL S:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering (full time course).

Minimum Experience:

15 years’ experience in the field of engineering in an engineering consultancy/Operating


plant (Petrochemical/Oil & gas/Fertiliser) with at least 10 years in the design field of
Petrochemical/Oil & gas/Fertiliser projects.

Team leadership responsibilities and exposure to Project management.

Proficiency in English language

Job Description
1. JOB SCOPE:

Coordinate discipline review and approval of design and interfaces with Contractor on
Company requirements and specifications.

Review and approve all related technical documents and coordinate with supervisor.

Review and advice on layouts, site preparation, rotating-pipeline systems, etc. during
technical evaluation stage of bidder’s proposals to assess technical capability and ensure
compliance with project specifications.

Ensure projects’ mechanical rotating engineering design and engineering activities are
executed according to specification, within budget, with the contract scope of work and
meets time schedules.

Coordinate and provide engineering support for construction activities, including the
assurance that engineering details required for construction are provided.

Review and approve modifications (projects) as-built documents.

Conduct site verification and data collection of existing and new facilities as part of study

Carry out the technical reviews for all areas of work covered in mechanical/rotating

Job Description
1. JOB SCOPE:

as a key focal point for discipline engineering aspects for the in-house

Description

Preparation of Loss Prevention Philosophies and Design Basis document specific to Project
scope.

Ability to design Active Fire Protection system using industry renowned software including
preparation of Firewater demand calculation report, fire protection hydraulics and fire
protection P&IDs.

Ability to design Passive Fire Protection system including drawings & schedules.

Ability to carry out Hazardous Area Classification of facility including preparation of HAC
schedule and HAC layouts.

Ability to identify various safety studies required including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, QRA etc
for project scope based on basic engineering documents.

Participate in project specific safety studies and provide technical expertise to ensure
inherently safer design.

Ability to produce/review Safety studies deliverable like Terms of Reference, Study reports
and Closeout reports according to Company procedures.

Ability to carry Physical effects modelling using PHAST software to determine the physical
effects on human and property and recommend actions accordingly.

Certification to facilitate safety studies will be an added advantage.

Minimum Work Experience

Job Description
1. JOB SCOPE:

Plan, execute, monitor , coordinate , procurement , installation ,testing, hand over,


commissioning and start up all civil construction works across company in liaison with project
management team for a wide range civil projects including buildings, road works, structure
works, infrastructure and finishing in the various plants/sites while acting as a key focal point
for all civil engineering aspects for the contractors/consultants and monitoring the work
conducted in order to facilitate successful completion of projects as per defined parameters,
industry best practices and contractual agreements.

2. DUTIES:

Supervising and coordinating the construction and pre-commissioning phase of major and
minor projects executed by annual and EPC contractors.

Supervises Contractors work to ensure implementation of specified scope of work with


less cost, high quality, meets the company standards and procedures.

Review modification approval drawings/documents, confirming it with architect and


structure drawing and specification and site verification for the construction deficiency and
approve.

Liaises with concerned Department for timely availability of materials. Prepare requisition
to issue company warehouse materials; also procure materials from local suppliers
for shortage materials.

Arrange different type of work permit; explain the hazard to the contractor depend upon
the type of work, prepare Job safety analysis, and Method statement for the civil activities
and confirm the works are done in a safer manner and follow company standards
and procedures.

Prepare inspection and test plans and conduct all types of field and shop tests

Propose field design changes during the construction phase and get approval from
engineering section.

Prepare the punch points and confirm the works done as per the engineering study.

Liaises with Production Department and other disciplines to facilitate pre-commissioning


and commissioning of the project and hand over to production.

After completion of the work, prepare as built documents and issue the close out report.
