I have been working in Peduli Anak Foundation for 1 and half years. Started as a volunteer, I slowly
become a permanent employee, who are responsible in marketing and teaching. At the first time I
came to this foundation, I saw that the children are definitely smart, yet they have not known how to
study properly. I began to teach elementary about colour by using a song, and they really did not listen
to my instruction at all. I had to think hard how to make them learn better, and I started giving
cooperative and group-based task to them. For instance, I asked them to make group of three and
gave them a colourful straws and an instruction how to make a tower based on the colour. Since they
are special need children, working in group is such a difficult task to them. Moreover, I started to
consult with the director of the Foundation about upcoming method for them. We agree that, the kids
should be learning through cooperative and group-based task, to develop how they interact and treat
other children. Since the children background is street children and family violence, being selfish has
been their character. Therefore, creative and innovative learning method can enhance their behaviour
and the way they think psychologically.
