▪ A man wanted to visit his brother in Islam in another town, and Allah ( )ﷻput forth in his path an angel which
came in the form of a man. This teaches us a person doesn’t know when he will be tested by someone or an
angel and will never see them again. The angel asked him, ‘where are you going?’. The man said ‘I’m visiting
my friend in another town’. The angel asked, ‘is there some benefit out of it?’. He said ‘no, I’m only visiting
him because I love him for Allah’, subhan Allah. So the angel told him ‘I’m a messenger from Allah to tell you
Allah loves you as you love him’, subhan Allah.
▪ To love for Allah ( )ﷻis an unconditional love. When a person loves someone for the sake of Allah ( )ﷻand not
for any desire or benefit, then Allah ( )ﷻwill love him. To love for Allah ( )ﷻis to be moderate in feelings with
the person. When the person does good to him, then he loves him the same, and not more. And when he
doesn’t do good to him, he will still love him. And if a person loves someone for Allah ()ﷻ, whether he sees
him or not, he still loves him, unlike worldly love which diminishes with distance.
▪ And when you love someone for the sake of Allah ( )ﷻthen you’ll be tested with them, will you still be the
same with them? May Allah ( )ﷻhelp us. Ameen. The moment duniya and desire is brought into the
relationship then the love will decrease. Friends will become enemies on the Day of Judgment except the
muttaqeen. Surah Az Zukhruf 67: ( َض َع ُد ٌّو إ اَّل أٱل ُمتاقين ٍ ض ُهمأ لبَ أع ( أFriends on that Day will be foes one
ٓ )ٱألَخ ا
ُ َّل ُء يَ أو َمٮ ِۭذ بَ أع
to another except Al-Muttaqûn). This means there needs to be taqwa in love as well. When we love, we
should love moderately, not pouring our love like pouring water out of bucket, and when we hate, we should
also hate moderately. Hadith: ( َ أ ُ َراهُ َر َف َع ُه َقال،ِض "عَنْ أَبِي ه َُر ْي َر َة ْ ض َك َي ْو ًما َما َوأَ ْبغ

َ ( )" َبغِيMuhammad bin Sirin narrated from Abu Hurairah - and I think he
(narrated it from the Prophet ( ))ﷺwho said: "Love your beloved moderately, perhaps he becomes hated to
you someday. And hate whom you hate moderately, perhaps he becomes your beloved someday.") - Jami`
at-Tirmidhi 1997.
▪ When we don’t love for Allah ( )ﷻthen we can misbehave. The wife of the Aziz loved Yusuf (as) and she not
only tried to seduce him, but she hurt him in the end by placing him in jail. Love is blind and can make a person
act violently and irrationally. As they say ‘love kills’.

▪ Abu Dharr (ra) asked ‘what if I love someone but I can’t reach them because I can’t do what they’re doing?’.
He’s not thinking about the duniya, but the akhira. What did the Prophet ( )ﷺsay to him? ‘You will be with
those whom you love’. For example, for sure we cannot reach the deeds of the Prophet ( )ﷺand Abu Bakr (ra),
but because we love them, we will be with them. We ask Allah ( )ﷻof His great favor. Ameen. Look at the
generosity of Allah ()ﷻ, subhan Allah. For this reason it’s important to talk about the messengers and wives
of the Prophet ( )ﷺand to have righteous people as our role models. What about those who love doing haram?
Astaghfar Allah, they will be with them in the akhira as well, astaghfar Allah.
▪ Abu Dharr (ra) said ‘I love Allah and His Messenger (’)ﷺ. He wants to be with Allah ( )ﷻand the Prophet ( )ﷺin
paradise. The Prophet ( )ﷺsaid you will be with the ones whom you love. There are some people who will see
Allah ( )ﷻtwice a day, some once a week. Those who truly love Allah ( )ﷻwill see him more. We ask Allah ()ﷻ
of His love, to love whomever loves Him, and love of good deeds which will bring us closer to His love. Ameen.

Anas reported that a man asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and
grant him peace, "Prophet of Allah, when will the Final Hour come?" He said, "Have you not made preparation
for it?" He replied, " I am not prepared for a terrible event, but I love Allah and His Messenger." He said, "A man
is with the one he loves.") - Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 352
▪ A man asked when is the Day of Judgement, and the Prophet ( )ﷺasked him, ‘what have you prepared for it?’.
He said ‘I didn’t prepare much but I love Allah and His Messenger (’)ﷺ. So the Prophet ( )ﷺsaid you are with
the ones whom you love. Anas bin Malik (ra) said ‘the Muslims didn’t rejoice as much after hearing this hadith’,
subhan Allah. It’s important for us to love Allah ( )ﷻand His Messenger ( )ﷺand it’s important to teach the
children this as well before loving others.
