809 - 1 DESCRIPTION - 4-SEAT BACK-TO-BACK BENCH

The 4-seat back-to-back bench c o n s i s t s of a welded t u b u l a r frame with a


canvas s e a t bottom and i s a t t a c h e d t o t h e cabin f l o o r by means of s t u d and
pan f i t t i n g s . The p l a s t i c s e a t back i s equipped with s e a t b e l t s and can be
removed by l i f t i n g s t r a i g h t up.

809 - 3 INSPECTION FOR CONDITION - 4-SEAT BACK-TO-BACK BENCH

1. Inspect bench frame and s e a t back (1, f i g . 809-1) f o r condition. Replace


damaged p a r t s .

2. Inspect s t u d f i t t i n g s ( 4 ) f o r s e c u r i t y of i n s t a l l a t i o n and c o r r e c t
locking and r e l e a s e a c t i o n . I f required, t i g h t e n hardware a t t a c h i n g
s t u d f i t t i n g s t o bench l e g s and replace poorly functioning s t u d f i t t i n g s .

3. Inspect canvas s e a t bottom ( 3 ) f o r s e c u r i t y of i n s t a l l a t i o n and


condition.
4. Inspect s a f e t y b e l t s f o r damage, contamination and dampness.
a. I f t h e r e i s evidence of broken s t i t c h i n g , t e a r s , chafing, and o t h e r
impairing marks, r e p l a c e t h e s a f e t y b e l t s o r r e p a i r i n accordance
with manufacturerfs i n s t r u c t i o n s ( r e f e r t o Autoflug Component Main-
tenance Manual) .

b. Clean d i r t y - s a f e t y b e l t s with water and mild soap (e.g. N i s l i n 4 M ) .

C. Dry damp s a f e t y b e l t s e i t h e r i n t h e Open o r i n w e l l - v e n t i l a t e d rooms,


away from d i r e c t s u n l i g h t .

5. If p r o t e c t i v e padding i s i n s t a l l e d on overhead panel frame:


a. Inspect f o r s e c u r i t y of i n s t a l l a t i o n and condition.
b. Bond separated p r o t e c t i v e padding onto overhead panel frame, using
contact adhesive (CM 605) .

C. Replace damaged p r o t e c t i v e padding a s follows:


1) Remove p r o t e c t i v e padding.

2) Clean overhead panel frame with acetone (CM 203)' and allow t o
dry.
3) Apply c o n t a c t adhesive (CM 605) t o p r o t e c t i v e padding and bond
onto overhead panel frame.

809 - 4 REMOVAL - 4-SEAT BACK-TO-BACK BENCH

1. Remove c o p i l o t ' s s e a t .

2. Depress s l e e v e locks ( 5 ) , pul1 s l e e v e s ( 6 ) upward over t h e sleeve locks,


and l i f t and remove bench from cabin.

WARNING INSTALL DOUBLE BENCH SEAT SO THAT UPPER SHOULDER BELT


FASTENING FACES FORWARD I N DIRECTION OF FLIGHT.

1. Place bench i n i n s t a l l e d p o s i t i o n .
2. Depress sleeve locks ( 5 ) , p u l 1 s l e e v e s ( 6 ) up, p o s i t i o n bench over t h e
s t u d s ( 8 ) i n t h e cabin f l o o r , and p r e s s bench down s o t h a t t h e s t u d
f i t t i n g s ( 4 ) a r e over t h e s t u d .

3. Depress sleeves (6) s o t h a t t h e jaws ( 7 ) of t h e s t u d f i t t i n g s g r i p t h e


studs.

4. Install copilotls seat.
