General Description
Instrument Cooling System
Effectivity : ALL

A. Introduction
The instrument cooling system supplies air from the right NACA inlet (8, Figure 1) and
from the cockpit inlet (7) under the pilot seat. The air goes through mechanical ducts
to the outlets (9) at the rear of the instrument panel.

B. NACA Inlet
The NACA inlet (8) is installed on the bottom part of the front right exterior of the
helicopter.

C. Cockpit Inlet
The cockpit inlet (7) is installed under the pilot seat in the cockpit floor.

D. Flap Valve
The flap valve (6) is attached to the input of the blower (5) and is installed under the
right side of the cockpit floor. The flap valve (6) is used to change the supply of air
from the NACA inlet (8) to the cockpit inlet (7).

E. Bowden Cables
A Bowden cable (2) is connected from the knob, PUSH FOR AIR (1) on the center
console to the control unit (3). From the control unit (3), another Bowden cable (4)
goes to the flap valve (6). The knob, PUSH FOR AIR (1) also controls the flap valve of
the cockpit ventilation system, 21-22-01.

F. Blower
The blower (5) increases the flow of air and is installed under the right side of the
cockpit floor.

G. Temperature Sensors
There are two temperature sensors, an operation temperature sensor (11) and an
overheat temperature sensor (12). The sensors are installed at the right side the
instrument panel.

H. Circuit Breakers
The electrical supply is through a single circuit breaker INST COOL (10) installed on
the overhead panel in the cockpit. The circuit breaker INST COOL (10) also supplies
the avionics deck cooling system, 21-22-01 and the pelican rack cooling system,
21-22-03.
