Configuration / Function
Pelican Rack Cooling System
Effectivity : ALL

A. FCDS Control
The rack blowers (6, Figure 1) operate when the circuit breakers BLW PEL 1 (1) and
BLW PEL 2 (2) are pressed and there is a control signal. The control signal is from
the sensor (9) or the test switch (8) in the Flight Control Display System (FCDS),
31-61-00. The warm air is sent through an output duct installed on the exterior center
below the pelican rack.

B. Air Supply
Fresh air to the auxiliary blower (7) is taken from the input duct installed on the
exterior bottom left of the pelican rack. The auxiliary blower (7) moves cold air from
the outside of the helicopter into the area around the pelican rack. The auxiliary
blower (7) operates when the circuit breaker INST COOL (3) is pressed and the
temperature is between 42.2 and 47.8 °C. When the temperature is between 32.2 and
37.8 °C, the auxiliary blower (7) stops. These temperatures relate to the tolerances of
the operation temperature sensor (4).

C. CAD - CPDS
There is an overheat temperature sensor (5) that is connected to the Caution and
Advisory Display (CAD) of the Central Panel Display System (CPDS), 31-60-00. If
the temperature of the area around the pelican rack is between 48.3 and 51.7 °C
the caution AVION OVHT comes on. The caution stays on until the temperature is
between 45 and 48.4 °C. These temperatures relate to the tolerances of the overheat
temperature sensor (6).
