VULNERABLE EMPLOYEE POLICY

INTENT
Trappers Transport Ltd. is committed to upholding the human rights of workers, and to treating
them with dignity and respect. This policy aims to protect its employees who are considered at
high risk of workplace injuries and illnesses. The company will ensure that vulnerable
employees will receive the same level of safety and protection as regular employees.

DEFINITION
Vulnerable employees come in all types and sizes. This group includes young workers, older
workers, pregnant workers, and workers with language disabilities or for whom English is not a
first language. They have greater exposure than most to injury and illness due to their lack of
experience, reluctance to ask questions, communication barriers and type of work.

POLICY
Vulnerable employees will be trained and protected and understand all their rights, including
refusal of dangerous work., proper training in use of all equipment, provision of acceptable PPE
and regular engagement in health and safety activities of the company.

To ensure this, Trappers Transport Ltd. will:


 Establish procedures and measures for workplace health and safety and ensure they are
always followed.
 Ensure equipment and personal protective equipment are provided and maintained
properly.
 Ensure that all hazards, illnesses, and injuries are reported immediately.
 Identify workplace hazards and provide training and instruction for handling them.
 Provide proper and continuous training.
 Respond promptly to all health and safety concerns.
 Avoid assigning jobs to inexperienced workers that require long training times, a great
deal of responsibility, critical or risky tasks and working alone.

In return, employees need to comply with all the safety policies and procedures. They are
expected to take all the necessary training to perform their job safely and free of hazards.

Trappers Transport Ltd. will provide appropriate support in order to complete online training
modules in a timely manner for ageing drivers. Computers are made available inside the training
room and the Driver Services Staff/ Dispatch Manager will guide them in the completion of the
course.
