Method Statement for Automatic Sprinkler Circuits Testing
1. Introduction
The following Method Statement has been prepared for the hydrostatic testing of the
Wet sprinkler pipe work at Merrill Lynch at Harbour Front.
The following standard and manufacturers’ information have been referenced when
preparing these procedures:
This procedure will be adopted for Landlord’s automatic Wet Sprinkler system serving
the following fit-out areas:
Level 2.
Level 3.
Level 4.
Level 5.
Level 6.
2. Pre-Inspection
Prior to testing the Automatic Sprinkler system undertake the following checks and
observation:
2.1 Sprinkler pipe work installed as per manufacturers instructions and design
drawings.
2.2 Confirm circuit has been hydrostatically tested in accordance with MS-FIRE-001.
2.3 Identify and location of each valve component in sprinkler circuit. In order:
2.4 Confirm all plant, panels and system devices are labelled in accordance with
the design specification.
2.5 Record test results and observations onto test record sheet PCL-FIRE-001.
3. Access
All testing works shall be directly controlled by Wah Loon’s appointed Site Engineer.
Wah Loon’s pipe fitters will assist in the testing.

Personnel involved in the testing work will be experienced and trained in the work that
they are undertaking.
As only simple and lightweight tools and instruments will be used, no safety risks have
been identified at present.
7. Environmental Controls
All personnel shall wear appropriate footwear and hard hat within the construction or
fit-out areas.
Any personnel who do not feel well during the course of work shall be relieved.
9. Risk Assessment

Carry out the following test procedure for each fire zone.
10.1 Notify the Landlord of the tests to be carried out and agree date and time.
10.2 Close subsidiary valve to check micro switch (tamper switch) operation at fire
panel.
10.3 Check correct address of micro switch (tamper switch) matches fire panel.
10.5 Confirm test drain is sized to simulate single sprinkler head activation.
10.6 Add hose to test valve and drain in a suitable location. Open test drain valve to
simulate single sprinkler head activation.
10.7 Confirm flow switch activates and address of location is correct at fire panel.
10.10 Manually re-set pump and confirm that sprinkle pump has stopped.
10.11 For each “system” tested, open a test drain valve (within plant room) gradually
to drop the operating pressure. Confirm that the jockey pump starts to maintain
system pressure. Note pressure cut-in at on record sheet TR-FIRE-001.
10.12 Close test drain valve (within plant room) and note jockey pump stop.
10.13 Check and record system pressure from installed gauges upon departure.
