The call for application for Certification Short Courses supported by AFRETEC base
funding Project
The University of Rwanda (UR) is a member‘ of African Engineering and Technology Network
Universities (AFRETEC) by Carnegie Mellon University-Africa with other leading universities
in Africa(UniveTsity Of Nairobi, The American University in Cairo, University of the Witwatersrand,
University of Lagos) and supported by the Mastercard Foundation. AFRETEC aims to drive
inclusive digital growth through higher education and the power of collaboration. Technology-
focused universities from across the continent work together to build engineering and
technology.
Through this program, University of Rwanda is organizing trainings for future skills in emerging
technology fields thus University of Rwanda wishes to invite all interested university finalists,
graduates, lecturers and other industry professionals to apply for the following fully sponsored
short courses to be delivered at the University of Rwanda:
o AI/Machine learning taking place from l0 t' July 2023 to 21" July 2023
o Cyber security taking place from 7" August 2023 to 18* August 2023
o Networking taking place from 21’tAugust 2023 to 1"September 2023
o Robotics and Drone Technology taking place from 18" September 2023 to 29“’
September 2023
O Big Data Analytics and Visualization taking place from l6 t' October 2023 to 2T'
October 2023
Web services and API programming taking place from 13" November 2023 to 24"
November 2023
Embedded systems and programming taking place from 11* December 2023 to 22"
December 2023
Course Duration
Each of these courses will take place for two weeks with four hours per day.

Applicant Eligibility
The courses are designed for all interested final year undergraduate students/lecturers/graduates
in Information Technology/Engineering/ Business Information Technology/Statistics and other
related fields.

Application documents

The applicants should submit their CVs and academic documents through the application

Award
Candidates who will successfully complete each of these courses will be awarded a certificate of
completion.
