 Personal Protective Equipment appropriate to work being performed; in all cases

safety glasses and safety toe shoes or caps shall be worn.
 All work performed shall conform to the instructions herein and to the procedures
enumerated in the Workmanship Standards Document N80807, unless superseded
by a hierarchically superior document.
 Definitions:
 May is used where alternatives are equally acceptable.
 Must denotes a provision is a statutory requirement.
 Shall denotes a minimum requirement in order to conform to this procedure.
 Should denotes a recommendation, which is advised but not required.
 Records of inspection, maintenance, refurbishment, modifications and repairs shall
be maintained in SAP ZARM2.
 Visual inspection shall be performed, unaided by equipment, at a distance less than
36 inches. Visually inspect all components during disassembly; if there are any
fissures or cracks, the component shall be replaced.
 Any device requiring calibration shall be recorded in the Calibrated Equipment Table.
 Nonconforming material shall be controlled to prevent unintended use. It shall
immediately be discarded, Red Tagged for Scrap, or Yellow Tagged for further
analysis.
Note:  Check grease expiration date or manufacturing date. In the absence of an expiration
date, five years from date of manufacturing is to be used as the expiration date.
Grease past its expiration date shall not be used. Grease used shall be free from
dust, dirt, or any contamination which can cause seal failure.
 Pin gauges and weights used to verify the integrity of pins and sockets shall be
verified annually.
 O-rings, seals, and sealing surfaces:
 Do not use a screwdriver to remove O-rings; it will scratch the O-ring groove. Use
brass O-ring extractor tool.
 According to Workmanship Standards document N80807; …O-ring mating
surface shall be free from dust, dirt, or any contamination or imperfection (i.e.,
burr, scratches, pitting, etc.) which can cause accelerated O-ring wear and lead
to seal failure...
 After removing an O-ring or seal, the O-ring groove and/or seal gland shall be
inspected for burrs, pitting, scars, chips, dents, cracks, corrosion, or other
mechanical wear or damage that could lead to seal failure. If seal failure is
possible, refurbish or replace part.
 When O-rings or Seals are replaced, the O-rings/Seals part number,
manufacturer name, and batch number shall be recorded.
 Check O-rings discard date. IE, 2024Q2 is year 2024; Q2 is second quarter of
year. O-rings past their discard date shall not be used.

3 Electrical Checks
Continuity and Resistance Checks - Use a 5722XA/XB WEETECH; if not available use Digital
Multimeter. The following Table Values are utilizing a Fluke Model 87V.

If value is out of tolerance on Meter Auto Range, try changing

Note scales manually. If value is in tolerance on any scale then the
reading is good.

Insulation Check. Unless otherwise stated, if using a Digital Multimeter to check insulation, the
Meter shall indicate an open circuit for the expected value.
All values shall be within specified tolerances. If any value is out of tolerance, the fault shall be
rectified before the Instrument can be placed in service.
