Research proposal

Before research paper, we have to submit synopsis of proposal to the University to prove
our research project at the beginning of the research. Research proposal means the submit paper
to be shown to the university in order to get permission to write research and to get the approval
from them. Research proposal has to be written in order to understand the nature, significance of
research process and logical form of research.

In a research proposal, seven items should be included in the academic field:

1. Title,
2. Aims of research,
3. The background,
4. Research problem,
5. Outline of method,
6. Possible outcomes, and
7. Selected bibliography.

1. Title: the title should be short title, clear to be understood and long title should be avoided.

2. Aims of research: this is the heart of the research project. It should be possible to state the
aim of research in brief. The aim of research serves as an introduction to the heart of the
research project. The aim is sufficiently delineated so that it is possible to achieve them with the
available resources and time.

3. The background: explaining the context from which the research problem appears is called
background. Researcher should demonstrate the awareness of major factors which surround the
problem and any significant of literature which relates to it should be demonstrated.

4. Research problem: Research problem should be mentioned by simple language, should be a

great interest to a research and should be significant. It is the culmination of the background
work and initiator of specific research tasks. Research problem is different from research topic.
Therefore, the researcher should state the nature of the problem, how to identify it and why it is
too significant to be researched.

5. Outline of method: The fifth step is outline of method. Here, methods mean methodology.
Every proposal has different methodology. It means the methods that are going to use in
collecting information and making analyzing should be mentioned in brief. The methods is
important. In fact, general method refers to the primary sources and secondary sources. Hence,
every proposal has different description method because it has been chosen as collecting and
analyzing data effectively on the specific research problem and to produce the type of outcomes
aimed at.

6. Possible outcomes: Possible outcome means the result that we are expect from the research.
Even though the researcher cannot say exact outcome from the research, he should mention
possible outcome that he expected and should express the person who may get benefit from this
research and from the information according to the nature and scope of research. Here important
thing is that the outcome should be related directly to the aim of research.

7. Selected bibliography: Selected bibliography means the essential book or research paper to
be read at the beginning of the research in collecting information. It is the list of books and other
publications selected to reference in order to get information at the beginning. The primary
source and the secondary source must be included in it according to their item types.. In
bibliography, there must contain author name, edition, year of publication, title and publisher.

These all factor are the significant item that should be concluded in research proposal.
