Title: Drilling and Setting Procedure of Conductor Pipes Issue: 1
Established By: ATS Ops. team

1. SCOPE:
This document covers the driving, setting, and drilling of 30” conductor pipes including the supply of
equipment and personnel.
- Drilling machine to drill 30” dia. Pipe (3 pcs) connected together by thread (male and female)
- Using the horizontal type cam key for anti-rotation. It is a flush-type connection so it will not
be able to be supported with just standard elevator.
- Horizontal Cam Key connectors designed with a secondary drive shoulder are designated D-
type connectors
- The depth will be about 39m depending on pipe joint length
- The top of the pipe after RIH will be at the same level of the concrete slab.
- The concrete slab and cellar should be kept in good condition

5. DRILLING PROCEDURE:
a. Hold pre-job safety meeting
b. Install a steel structure as a virtual floor plant to work above cellar
c. A 38” pipe will be installed 1 day prior to start drilling with depth of 0.5m, to achieve a temporary
conductor for our own use, help us connect our flow line and observe the discharge of the
contaminated cement while cementing. And will be removed directly after the cement job
d. Inspect for QC for the drill pipes, bit and all BHA’s that will be involved in the operation
e. Rig up Drilling Unit with the required specifications
f. Start drilling with a string of 36” bit after getting the approval from the Client Representative,
down to ± 40 meters from ground level (due to 3 joints 30” casing length). Start drilling with
high viscous mud (>60 sec/qrt) to avoid washout around cellar and underneath the location.
g. Circulation and clean the hole. Ensure there is no mud breaching inside the location.
h. Reaming to total depth and clean the hole for min. 1 hour
i. Perform visual check on body and threads of the casing and shoe before offloading. If any
damaged joint observed, the client superintendent (SPT) will be informed.
j. Reserve the right to check the length of the casings anytime required
k. Connect and make up provided stab-in (30 BTC threaded) shoe at the bottom of the first joint
according to the standard torque.
l. Cut the pin off the lower joint and prep and weld the shoe, 30” stab-in shoes are butt welded
m. Check pin connector for contamination or damage
n. Stab the pin into the box and slack off full joint weight on the connection
o. Rotate the joint to the right with special tools
p. Multi-thread: rotate approx. 5/8 of a turn to fully make up
q. Confirm connector make-up by examining the visual indicator
r. RIH the first joint of the casing through the steel guide to keep the pipe vertically while running.

6. WELDING:
Welding equipment are used to ensure connectors are welded to the pipe in conformity with industry
standards. Typical welding processes used are Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Submerged Arc
Welding (SAW)
7. INSPECTION:
All connector welds are inspected for defects using NDT techniques, all inspection procedures
conform to ASME Sec V or API 1104.
- ATS shall make sure the setting area between the casing depth and the TD is less than 1 m
- ATS shall ensure that there is no more cutting casing pipe except the cutting of collar and
elevator around 0.45 cm
- After cementing job, waiting on cement for 16 hours, RIH BHA to tag bottom, mention the
bottom and BHA information in the final report and, which should be confirmed and witnessed
by the client’s representative. No need to drill out cement
