1. SCOPE:
This document covers the driving, setting, and drilling of 30” conductor pipes including the supply of
equipment and personnel.
- Drilling machine to drill 30” dia. Pipe (3 pcs) connected together by thread (male and female)
- Using the horizontal type cam key for anti-rotation. It is a flush-type connection so it will not
be able to be supported with just standard elevator.
- Horizontal Cam Key connectors designed with a secondary drive shoulder are designated D-
type connectors
- The depth will be about 39m depending on pipe joint length
- The top of the pipe after RIH will be at the same level of the concrete slab.
- The concrete slab and cellar should be kept in good condition

2. WELL INFORMATION AND LITHOLOGICAL COLUMN:

- Formation: Dibdibba
- Total depth: 61.81 m
- Thickness: 106 m
- Lithology: sand and gravel, quartzite, gypsums, calcareous cement
- Formation condition: caving
- Casing:

Drilling in Dibdibba formation (caving):

- Depth 0 m – 39 m
This section may experience formation cave-in, which in turn, ultimately may affect wellbore stability
and casing-cement quality
Bit information:
A PDC bit is used to drill the surface layer in the design.

4. RIG MOBILIZATION AND PREPARATION TO SPUD:

- Survey well location and access road in advance. Review site conditions with Company
Witness. Prepare rig installation schematic.
- Move drilling according to designed plan
a. Simplify well site facilities
b. Standby equipment and spare parts shall be stored in the project base
c. If the distance is close between well sites, main camp shall not move or placed together with
the base main camp, which shall reduce number of rig loads/packages.
d. Install equipment as required by the well site layout. The crown block, rotary table and
wellhead shall be aligned and the error shall be less than 10mm.
e. The equipment, instrumentation and lighting system provided for the well site shall be
explosion proof.
f. Prepare the relative tools and materials as required, drift, measure and clean drill pipe before
first pick up
g. Hold a pre-spud meeting. Ensure all parties are in attendance, all personnel are familiar with
roles and responsibilities.

5. DRILLING PROCEDURE:
a. Hold pre-job safety meeting
b. Install a steel structure as a virtual floor plant to work above cellar
c. A 38” pipe will be installed 1 day prior to start drilling with depth of 0.5m, to achieve a temporary
conductor for our own use, help us connect our flow line and observe the discharge of the
contaminated cement while cementing. And will be removed directly after the cement job
d. Inspect for QC for the drill pipes, bit and all BHA’s that will be involved in the operation
e. Rig up Drilling Unit with the required specifications
f. Start drilling with a string of 36” bit after getting the approval from the Client Representative,
down to ± 40 meters from ground level (due to 3 joints 30” casing length). Start drilling with
high viscous mud (>60 sec/qrt) to avoid washout around cellar and underneath the location.
g. Circulation and clean the hole. Ensure there is no mud breaching inside the location.
h. Reaming to total depth and clean the hole for min. 1 hour
i. Perform visual check on body and threads of the casing and shoe before offloading. If any
damaged joint observed, the client superintendent (SPT) will be informed.
j. Reserve the right to check the length of the casings anytime required
k. Connect and make up provided stab-in (30 BTC threaded) shoe at the bottom of the first joint
according to the standard torque.
l. Cut the pin off the lower joint and prep and weld the shoe, 30” stab-in shoes are butt welded
m. Check pin connector for contamination or damage
n. Stab the pin into the box and slack off full joint weight on the connection
o. Rotate the joint to the right with special tools
p. Multi-thread: rotate approx. 5/8 of a turn to fully make up
q. Confirm connector make-up by examining the visual indicator
r. RIH the first joint of the casing through the steel guide to keep the pipe vertically while running.

s. Connect the second joint as per the standard torque

t. Complete RIH the string down to the pre-agreed depth as per casing tally
u. Tag the bottom and make sure that the depth is correct with pipe tally

6. WELDING:
Welding equipment are used to ensure connectors are welded to the pipe in conformity with industry
standards. Typical welding processes used are Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Submerged Arc
Welding (SAW)

7. INSPECTION:
All connector welds are inspected for defects using NDT techniques, all inspection procedures
conform to ASME Sec V or API 1104.

8. HORIZONTAL CAM KEY:

Connectors designed with a secondary drive shoulder are designated D-type connectors. These
connectors are equipped with horizontal cam-type anti-rotation keys. Cam-style anti-rotation keys are
installed into a mating cam-shaped slot on the OD of the pin. Diametrically opposed keys are installed
in the opposite direction to prevent right- or left-hand rotation. The hardened keys have serrations that
bite into the top shoulder of the box. Any attempt to rotate the pin is immediately stooped by the
camming action of the keys. The keys are retained in their slots by an Allen-head bolt and can be
easily removed, if necessary.

9. COMMITMENT TO HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENT:

The main goal is to carry out drilling operations with no accident, no harm to people and no damage
to environment. Filed policies have to be followed. The major objectives are as follows:
- To reduce all emissions and discharges to environment
- Full compliance with filed waste management procedures and policy
- Procedures and bridging documents will be implemented for accident and HSE observations
to raise awareness of potential danger
- To help minimizing incidents and to allow statistical analysis of HSE performance
- Safety, will be overriding factor in matters relating to drilling operations, especially where
onsite decision.

10. WELL OBJECTIVES:

- No accident, no incident

11. TEMPORARY UTILITIES:

ATS will observe any security procedures for access to the site and also the directions of the onsite
security contractor. Vehicles and personnel permission are by the main gate and responsible for the
shuttle of its workers to and from the job site from the gate.

12. CONDUCTOR PIPE INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO HANDOVER THE WELL:

- Client coordinator to be on location to supervise the total depth before RIH the BHA otherwise
the well will be rejected.
- Total drilling depth must be less than or equal to 1 m below the shoe, Client coordinator have
to supervise the casing length and drilling depth
- ATS to provide pumps near the cellar to pump out the sediment inside the cellar during the
cementing operation.
- ATS to provide pure water tank ready for cementing operation prior to start the job of at least
1 hour.
- Next day of cementing job the bottom check has to be dine under client coordinator
supervision
- Casing cover pieces have to be collected and stored by ATS and Client coordinator will be
responsible for sending it back to client base
