NOMINATION FORM - GENERAL FAQ

➢ What is a Provident Fund?
It is a retirement plan provided by the company & is mandatory for all companies employing 20 employees or more. It's an equal
contribution of 12% of Basic salary contributed by Employer & Employee every month. The fund is accumulated & returned on
resignation/retirement/death.

➢ What is e-Nomination process in PF?

A member can avail of the e-nomination facility by logging in to their account on the EPFO's Unified member portal via
https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface. Instead of submitting manual PF form 2, using this facility, an employee can
update his nomination details via online.
➢ Why should one fill a Nomination Form?
While becoming a member of Provident Fund, one needs to file Nomination in Form No.2 declaring the details of dependents whom you
wish to nominate in case of unfortunate event. Here you can fill up your family members name & prescribed percentage of contribution to
be paid to each one. This is to be signed by you, authenticated by your employer & deposited to RPFC/Trust. Presently, PF department has
enabled the provision to upload the details in Unified member portal via E-Nomination facility.

➢ Who can be a nominee in EPF?

An EPF account holder can nominate only Spouse, Children and Parents for his/her EPF account.

➢ How to Change EPF Nomination Online?

Log in to the UAN portal through the link https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface using the UAN (Universal Account
Number) and password. On the UAN dashboard, the facility to change details can be accessed under the 'Profile' tab through
“Edit Nomination Details”.

➢ What is VID number?

The virtual ID (VID) is basically a temporary and revocable 16-digit random number mapped with a user's Aadhaar number. The VID can be
used in place of Aadhaar number at all places where e-KYC is required to be done. The VID can be generated through UIDAI website or
mobile app.

➢ How can I know my Aadhar virtual ID?

Following are the steps to take to generate an Aadhaar Virtual ID:
Step 1 - Visit the official website of UIDAI - https://resident.uidai.gov.in/vid-generation.
Step 2 - Under Aadhaar Services, click on "Virtual ID (VID) Generator"
Step 3 - Enter your Aadhaar number and type in the security code.

➢ I have my UAN number but what should I do in case I have forgotten my password ?
If you have forgotten your password, one can click on " Forgot Login" and enter the UAN and registered mobile number to retrieve the
username and password on your mobile.

➢ I have my UAN number, but I have changed my mobile number so how can I recover my password ?
Step 1-Select the forgot password and mobile number is changed option from the drop down.
Step 2-Enter all the details such as new mobile number, UAN, member ID, Date of birth and other details.
Step 3-Enter the problem in the text box
Step 4-Select the preferred language.
Step 5-Click on generate OTP You will receive the OTP on your new number which is entered.
Step 6-Enter the OTP and submit the form. The EPFO office will resolve the issue and send your password, to your new mobile number.

FILING E-NOMINATION FORM:

A facility for filing of online e-nomination is available at Member Interface of Unified Portal.

UAN UAN should be activated

AADHAR Verified Aadhar should be linked with UAN and Aadhar of

nominees is mandatory
PRE-REQUISITE OF

MOBILE Mobile Number should be linked with Aadhar

Photo of member/nominee should be ready (with 100kb or less
size and in jpeg/jpg/png format)

GENERATING DIGITAL SIGNATURE FOR E-SIGN

A• If your digital signature is not registered, you will receive message,

click on Proceed to register.

B• Goto https://resident.uidai.gov.in/vid-generation to generate VID

which is a pre-requisite for registering the eSign. Click on the
check box.
C C• Enter your Aadhar number and captcha and click on “Get OTP”

•A Once you receive the OTP, goto UAN website

again. Provide details and click on “Submit”
to verify digital signature.

Nomination History.
