 - PURPOSE
The aim of this method statement is to execute the scope of work, provide and maintain an
effective quality control in compliance with standards and good practices at all stages/
activities for Curbstone .

 - SCOPE

A full and detailed description of roles and responsibilities of all staff is included within
the project quality plan . for the works as covered this method statement , the following
personnel have specific duties

Technical Officer Engineer: Specific responsibilities include:


- Responsible for ensuring that the various submitting are timely undertaken (materials,
method statements, workshop drawings, subcontractor’s issues, technical issues).
- Responsible for quotations as required (materials, subcontractors).

- Responsible for ensuring RFI’s are timely undertaken on behalf of contractor.


- Responsible for the distribution of documents within contractor site personnel.

Site Engineer(s). Specific responsibilities include:


- Ensuring that the project is managed in a safe manner and meets the requirements
Of the project documentation
- Ensuring that subcontractors and suppliers achieve the on-site required
Standards

- Ensuring the Client is satisfied with our performance .

- Ensuring performance measurable are delivered.

- Shall refer to the QA/QC Department and the HSE Department for advice and
guidance when required.

- Shall ensure that operatives comply with the relevant method statements, Toolbox
Talks and general site briefings.

HSE Site Representative(s). Specific responsibilities include:


- Assisting in the production of any health, safety, and environmental documents.
- Monitoring the implementation of health, safety, and environmental

- Undertaking audits and ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are
- Taken where required Liaison with the senior site staff on health, safety, and
Environmental related matters

QA/QC Site Representative(s). Specific responsibilities include:


- Carrying out phased inspections as required.
- Ensuring that completed works are offered for inspection/approval to external

companies within specific dates/programmers.


- Preparation of the ITP.
- Ensuring that all required tests are performed and follow appropriate
specifications etc.
- Reviewing and ensuring that all shop drawings and material submitting are
presented to the appropriate bodies with adequate supporting information.
-Ensuring that materials are inspected when delivered to ensure they comply with the
various specifications

-Maintaining a record of all QA/QC activities on site.


- Controlling and ensuring all measuring and test equipment on site is properly calibrated.
-Controlling all non-conforming products or workmanship and implementing the required
preventive actions.
-Ensuring that corrective and preventive actions are taken when required.

-Ensuring that the required testing is undertaken by approved independent laboratories,


and that all test results are reviewed.

-Undertake audits to ensure conformance to agreed Standards, Legislation, and project


specific requirements.
-Ensuring that staffs are aware of their responsibilities in respect of quality issues.

-Assisting and reporting to the QA/QC Manager as required.

Supervisor(s). Specific responsibilities include:


-To ensure that all operatives and appropriate subcontractors have been briefed as to the
content of the method statement and the works.

-To adequately control the works as required.

-To ensure the works are undertaken in a safe manner.


- To ensure all operatives are adequately training in their respective works.

-Reporting any UN-safe practices on site to the site team.

Subcontractors. Specific responsibilities include:


-To undertake their works as specified.

-To work in a safe manner.

 - MANPOWER
The Civil Supervisor shall control the overall activities at site and he will be directly
reporting to the Site Superintendent. The basic manpower under him shall consist
but not limited to the following:
 Lead Pre-Commissioning Engineer
 Testing Engineer
 Civil Lead Man
 Senior Technicians
 Technician
 Vendor Represented (if need)
 QC Engineer / Inspector
 Safety Engineer
 Company Representative

 - Materials :

- Approved Curbstone.

 - METHODS / PROCEDURES

Preparations
A. After the material samples have been approved, all materials shall
be delivered to site in the manufacturer’s original containers and
packages with seals unbroken and Delivery notes and shall be
stored in a dry place. Materials such as cements, which are
partially caked, the containers for which are damaged or
unsuitable for use shall be removed from site.

B. Damaged curbs shall not be allowed to be used so that


precautionary measures shall be undertaken to prevent racking,
chipping or other damage during unloading and storage at the
site. Any damage curb installed shall be immediately removed
from the site and replaced with a new material.

C. The work shall be coordinated with other


sections of work which adjoins other materials before installation
of the material herein.

D. Before starting the curbstone work, create an axis which it's insure
that's it's achieved the level as approved plan.

Installation

A. Set lay-out for curb stone according to plan with reference to lines
and grades , makes excavation 15 cm from street level .

B. The base coarse shall be compacted to attain sufficient


compaction prior to its final placement.

C. Cleaning the ground and making a concrete base

D. Set curbs in full bed of mortar that it will be stable and can resist
lateral force exerted by the adjoining elevated interlocking blocks.

The joint of the curb stone shall be spaced for at least 10 mm and the same will
be filled with mortar so that there will be no lack of bond between adjoining
curb.

SAFETY PRECAUTION

-Safety requirements will be addressed in accordance with the project General


safety plan .

-Tools and equipment will be inspected periodic.
