Effects of Electronic Games on Children

Summary

In their article, Abed and Abd investigate the effects of video games on children's

future lives (Abed & Abd, 2022). Children like video games, and it is becoming difficult for

them to stay away from them. The video game industry stakeholders continue to advance its

games without necessarily considering their effects on children. The current games contain

violent activities that the children are likely to integrate into their social activities. The

authors are concerned about the side effects of video games. Several children showcase

aggressive nature that roots back to the violent nature of the games. Adults and children all

create time to play video games. However, younger people below the age of thirty-four are

vulnerable to the side effects of video games. The authors conclude that lawmakers,

educators, parents, and medical experts must find a way to limit children's exposure to video

games.

Evaluation

The authors published effects of electronic games on children article in 2022. The

authors had time to investigate past and current trends in video games. Before video games,

children engaged in physical activities and games that allowed them to interact. It is not

surprising to find modern children aware of weapons and fighting techniques. The article is,

therefore, relevant in explaining the behavior of children fond of playing video games.

Ahmed Mohammed is a medical practitioner in adult health nursing at the university of al-

ameed (Abed & Abd, 2022). On the other hand, Mohammed Talib is a child and neonate

health nurse at the University of Babylon. Both universities are in Iraq, and they have global

recognition. The authors' work can therefore be considered authentic since they are learned.

The authors reveal addiction, behavioral and psychological problems associated with children

playing video games. These problems cause the children to live a poor quality of life. The

video game world is advancing, with more children finding interest in them. It was, therefore,

crucial for the authors to investigate the matter and present facts that the society members

could use. The author's article is relevant to my study because it discusses an issue affecting

children's mental state. Lastly, the authors reveal the sources they used to obtain their

findings. The article is important, and it will help develop my research.

Reflection

This article was significant in my research because it highlights the adverse effects of

electronic games on children. The current generation of parents is debating whether to

tolerate their children's video gaming activity. The information from the article will help me

explain the disadvantages of video games to parents. The article was also published in 2022

and hence entails essential points. The current video games are different from the past ones.

The new version of video games contains more violent activities that influence children. The

authors explained their points, making it easy for me to integrate their information into my

research. I assumed many things in the gaming world, but now I possess a good amount of

information from the article. I used to think that video games made children intelligent.

However, after reviewing the article, I notice different forms of video games exist. Many

children also like games that entail violent activity and quickly adapt to advanced gaming

options. The children then directly or indirectly practice what they see in the video games.

Parents find it a challenge to explain their children's aggressive behavior. With information

from the article, I can explain to various stakeholders why video games may be bad for

children.
