The Instructions
1) Please read the following instructions carefully.
2) This logbook will provide you a framework around which to plan your
training in Pediatrics (Job Shadow) and to keep-up-to-date records of
training progress.
3) It will need to be handed in for assessment at the end of the clinical
course. It contains attendance forms for the various placements that
need to be signed by one of the department lecturers / pediatricians
attending the clinical session or the practical procedure.
4) Lecturers / Pediatricians will not provide signatures ‘in retrospect’.
Always keep your log book with you during your training course. As
soon as the case is assigned and discussed, write it in the appropriate
site.
5) The duration of training course for each main group (A, B, C, D & E)
will be 8 weeks (4 weeks for pediatrics and 4 weeks for medicine, total
will be 8 weeks).
6) The logbook is divided into several sections.
7) You will find a list with required subjects that you should face during
your pediatric clinical training course, including the most common
diseases in each child system.
8) The number to the right of each duty represents the minimum number
of cases you must get exposed to.
9) You need to mention the case provisional or final diagnosis when
indicated.
10) For each case write the date of the interview. Each case should be
counter signed by your trainers. Their signatures are the proof of your
actual participation.
11) The clinical case log also includes attendance forms for training in
various aspects of pediatric practice including: morning meeting, ward
round, clinical sessions, neonatal care units (NCU), Pediatric
emergency unit (EU), different pediatric sub branches and primary
health care centers.
12) Minimum number of case presentation, event, and procedures must be
covered during your course.
13) You need to include all documents of history taking papers, reports,
growth charts, follow up charts and others with this logbook at the end
of training course and before the clinical exam.
14) Total number of students in this training course will be 28-32
students. These students will be divided into 4 major groups (each

3
group includes 9-12 students), A, B, C & D (regardless to the major
groups division for example major group E will be divided into A, B, C
&D).
15) These groups will be divided into small sub-groups; each sub-group
includes 2-3 students. A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, C3, D1, D2,
and D3 (12 sub-groups). Note: it is better to not be more than 3 students
in each small sub-group.
16) The training days in each department will be arranged according to
the schedule, but it is mandatory to have training in all places /
departments that mentioned in schedules. The most important thing is
to do the requirements mentioned in the logbook.
17) You should inform the trainer about any changes or post- ponding of
each program.
18) Attendance should be everyday morning at 8 AM.
19) The clinical examination will be takes place at the end of the training
course, and in form of OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical
Examinations).
20) The scores of this training course will be calculated as logbook score +
case presentation and follow up score + OSCEs exam score.
