Based on the data gathered from the pre-oral reading validation shown in table 1, conducted by the
Division of Pagadian City to the 442 pupils from Grade I to Grade VI of Bagong Silang Elementary School
showed that out of 71 pupils in Grade 1, there are 37 (27.5%) non-readers, Grade 2 has 70 pupils and 52
(15.5%) are non-readers, Grade 3 has 71 pupils and 20 (5.6%) are non-readers, Grade 4 has 61 pupils and 4
(7.2%) are non-readers, Grade 5 has 65 pupils and only 1 (0.3%) is a non-reader, and Grade 6 has 55 pupils and
1 (1.3%) are non-readers.

As a result, on the data gathered during post-oral reading evaluation that is shown on Chart 1, there is a
huge decrease in numbers of non-readers from Grade I to Grade VI. The 96 (27.5%) non-readers of Grade 1
drops to 2 (.6%), the 47 non-readers of Grade 2 decreases to 9 (2.9%), the 17 non-readers of Grade 3 declines to
2 (.7%), the 28 non-readers of Grade 4 drops to 0, in Grade 5 the 1 non-reader remains, and in Grade 6 they
don’t have a non-reader anymore.

Based on the data gathered from the pre-oral reading validation shown in table 2 for frustration readers,
conducted by the Division of Pagadian City to the 442 pupils from Grade I to Grade VI of Bagong Silang
Elementary School showed that out of 348 pupils in Grade 1, 123 (35.3%) are frustration readers, Grade 2 has
304 pupils and 50 (16.4.5%) are frustration readers, Grade 3 has 301 pupils and 41 (13.6%) are frustration
readers, Grade 4 has 387 pupils and 77 (19.9%) are frustration readers, Grade 5 has 339 pupils and 39 (11.5%)
are frustration readers, and Grade 6 has 310 pupils and 38 (12.3%) are frustration readers.

As a result, on the data gathered during post-oral reading evaluation for frustration readers that is shown
on Chart 2, there is a significant decrease in numbers of frustration readers from Grade I to Grade VI. The 123
frustration readers of Grade 1 drops to 37 (10.6%), the 50 frustration readers of Grade 2 decreases to 23 (7.6%),
the 41 frustration readers of Grade 3 declines to 32 (13.6%), the 77 frustration readers of Grade 4 drops to 25
(6.5%), the 39 frustration readers of Grade 5 drops to 21 (11.5%), and in Grade 6 there are 38 frustration readers
and it decreases to 11 (3.5%). It is evident that the intervention given was useful, helpful, and effective to the
pupils.
