Barney Stinson. Life can be an exciting journey if we have friends on our side. They are simply a
blessing in life. No matter what a situation is, they can make it better. We all have different
groups of friends, some we call best friends, some go-to advice friends, and some are just travel
buddies. However, there is one type of friend whom we should stay away from, fake friends.
These types of friends will be sweet like sugar but only for their benefit. It's best to stay away
from such people at any cost. Hence, here are some signs to identify if you have fake friends.

02/8Calls only on purpose

Whenever you see their name flashing on your phone screen, they will only hit you up on
purpose such as, “Hey! long time, are you free? Babysit my dog, please.” And it won’t even be a
question. This might be their first call after your birthday party, and it seems like you are only
remembered when there is a favour to ask. They may appreciate your help, but then be ready for
a six-month-long ghost period till the day they want you to do something again.

03/8They don’t respect you

Their subtle teasing, playful abuses, and even taunts cum compliments; make you feel
uncomfortable. Sometimes it is fun to tease, but not always. This behaviour may have several
psychological causes, but that doesn’t mean it easier to be with them.

04/8Will they take your advice?

We want a friend we can vent to, but that’s for special Sundays with ice cream tubs. However,
sometimes we meet a person who only calls to tell us about their sad endings. They will
constantly ask for your advice and do the opposite, and the cycle will continue when they mess
up again.

05/8They want to know 'everything'

Some people will befriend you just to gossip about you. They want new and spicy tea about
someone’s life, that can be you or someone you know. They will constantly pressurize you to tell
them every nook of your life.

06/8Apologizing is a big no

They will throw a tantrum or even set a whole drama just because you called them out on their
hurtful behaviour. Real friends know you and your soft spot; however, fake friends can
intentionally target that and then be defensive of their behaviour. They can even stop talking to
you to make you feel guilty about the mistake they have made.

07/8A friend in need is a friend indeed

They are not present in your need. Whenever you want someone to help you with your shifting
or renovating, their phone is switched off first. You can never reach them when you desperately
need their help.

08/8They have your back, or do they?

Fake friends will only be present till there is no harm to their image or everyone loves them.
They are extremely diplomatic and will let you walk in the fire alone while they stare at your
burning feet. That's how mean and selfish they are.
