Substances Note that should a H – High PO and a H – High CO be recorded together for a risk
exposure, the risk is unacceptable and further control measures are required.

 Ingestion, Inhalation or Absorption via
skin or eye contact with the substances
used – Can present a risk to health
 Provide COSHH assessments and safety data
sheets.
 Substances shall be handled, stored,
transported and used as stated in the COSHH
assessment and DATA sheet and inline with
current legislation and ACOP

 Personal protective equipment (PPE) shall be

worn at all times if stated on the COSHH
assessment.

 All personnel shall make themselves familiar

with the substance and the precautions
required by reading the COSHH assessment
prior to using the substance

 Supervision shall ensure that all the necessary

precautions are taken whilst using hazardous
substances.

 Explosive or Flammable Substances –  Substances shall be handled, stored,

Dangerous because of their potential to transported and used as stated in the COSHH
release energy rapidly, or because the assessment and DATA sheet and inline with
substances can be harmful by combustion current legislation and ACOP
and give off toxic fume.
 Personal protective equipment (PPE) shall be
worn at if stated on the COSHH assessment.

emergency by reading the COSHH
assessment prior to using the substance
