ameghary@iugaza.edu.ps
Office: B350
Hours and Locations:
2 credit hours, one hour. Lecture (Theory), 3 hours lab work
Course Description
Engineering Drawing is a visual means to develop ideas and convey designs in a technical
format and considered the dominant means to communication among engineers in industry. This
course provides students with instruction in the fundamentals of drafting using established tools
and techniques. Engineering Drawing introduces students to reading, understanding, and creating
engineering drawings. Emphasis is on creating accurate and clear sketches.
Method and Frequency:
- Lecture (1 hrs): 1 per week, for 15 weeks
- Lab (3 hrs): 1 per week, for 15 weeks
Textbook:
Technical Drawing with Engineering Graphics. Giesecke F. 15ed 2016.

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability
to:
- Interpret common types of engineering drawings.
- Create Free hand Drawings of a visual expression of technical ideas.
- Utilize graphic techniques to understand and use the general ideas of Multiview
Projection and Sectional views.
- Interpret the purpose of symbols, abbreviations and dimensional values found on
engineering drawings.
Course Contents:
The course consists of the following:
- The Graphic Language and Design.
- Background of Instrumental Drawing, Freehand Sketching, and Lettering
Techniques.
- Geometric Constructions.
- Dimensions.
- Technical Sketching and Shape Description.
- Multiview Projection.
- Sectional Views.

Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, the student is expected to be able to:
- Present data in appropriate graphical formats
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings with moderate complexity
- Create correct mechanical drawings of simple elements.
