Course Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will have reliably demonstrated the ability
to:
- Interpret common types of engineering drawings.
- Create Free hand Drawings of a visual expression of technical ideas.
- Utilize graphic techniques to understand and use the general ideas of Multiview
Projection and Sectional views.
- Interpret the purpose of symbols, abbreviations and dimensional values found on
engineering drawings.
Course Contents:
The course consists of the following:
- The Graphic Language and Design.
- Background of Instrumental Drawing, Freehand Sketching, and Lettering
Techniques.
- Geometric Constructions.
- Dimensions.
- Technical Sketching and Shape Description.
- Multiview Projection.
- Sectional Views.
Learning Outcomes:
On successful completion of this course, the student is expected to be able to:
- Present data in appropriate graphical formats
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings with moderate complexity
- Create correct mechanical drawings of simple elements.

Additional Notes:
- Successful and timely completion of all assigned drawings.
- All assigned drawings should be on A3 size paper.
- Absence should not exceed 25%.
- Appropriate behavior in the laboratory environment.
