Present Perfect (S+have/has+past participle) for talking about general experience.

Work with a partner. Look at the examples on the board. Choose and create a mini-dialogue.

I've been to Paris. (AFFIRMATIVE)


Rafat's been to Paris.

S + have/has + past participle


I haven't been to Paris. (NEGATIVE)
Idrissi hasn't been to Paris.

S + have/has + past participle


Have you ever been to Paris? (QUESTION)

Have/Has +S (ever) + past participle


Yes, I have./ No, I haven't. (SHORT ANSWERS)

Example:
A: Have you ever won a competition?
B: Yes, I have.
A: Really? What competition did you win?
B: I won the regional junior chess championships.

Write down the dialogue, then practise it together.

If you have time, make another dialogue.

Work with the same partner. Look at the examples on the board.

Write 2 sentences; one thing you have done and one thing you haven't done in your life.

Example:
I have broken my leg.
I haven't ever been to London/I've never been to London.

Note: haven't ever = have never


Work very carefully to make sure you don't make any mistakes. Use the irregular verbs chart in your
book (p.119) to check past participles.

'Select a member of your family and write about 3 interesting things he or she has done in their life'
Example: I am writing about my father. He has lived in Sarawak. It is next to Borneo. My Dad was
born there in 1969. His father worked there. They left in 1973. I have never visited Sarawak, but I
would like to go. My father has been a soldier. He did his military service when he was 18. He did not
like it very much. My father has also met the Pope. When he was a boy he went to Italy with his
family and he met Pope Paul IV. My father says the Pope was not very friendly.
