What is this congress?

The 2023 UIA World Congress theme is "Sustainable Futures - Leave No One Behind",
which highlights the importance of designing and building sustainable and inclusive
environments that meet the needs of all people.

10.000 of your peers, embark on a journey towards a more sustainable built environment,
for the sake of our planet.”

Overall, the 28th UIA World Congress of Architects promises to be an exciting and
informative event, providing attendees with the opportunity to learn about the latest
trends and innovations in sustainable design, connect with other professionals in the field,
and explore the beautiful and historic city of Copenhagen.
Purpose or goal of the Bangladesh team in UIA 2023:
1. To promote the excellence of the Architecture of Bangladesh.
Even though it is a less developed country, Bangladesh has demonstrated
outstanding architectural achievements through its architects. They are
consistently receiving international awards as well as recognition in the field of
architecture.

2. To boost the exposure of Bangladeshi architectural firms and individuals in the

realm of outsourcing architectural work.
Many individuals and firms from Bangladesh have already established a presence
in the global market by engaging in ICT-based outsourcing. They offer a diverse
range of services and support to foreign architects, builders, and others, including
architectural design, interior design, landscape design, drafting, documentation,
3D modeling, virtual reality, Augmented reality, 3d visualizations, presentations,
CAD conversion, Metaverse, BIM, Simulation, and more. As a result, they are
generating foreign currency for the country. This sector is experiencing rapid
growth due to the comparatively lower wages in Bangladesh.
What is our plan for promoting Bangladeshi firms and individuals
in the outsourcing sector?
• We will publish and distribute a book showcasing a selection of Architectural
Associated Services and outsourcing works.

• The book will contain a directory of architects/ firms who are currently engaged in
various Architectural Associated Services and outsourcing works.

• We will create a website and directory only for the Architectural Associated
Services and outsourcing works.

• We will feature selected works via a digital multimedia presentation on multiple

large LED displays throughout the 5-day event.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Any Architect who graduated from a reputable university in Bangladesh.

• Any Student of Architecture who is currently studying at a reputable university in

Bangladesh.

• If the Participant is a Firm or company, it should be operated and managed by an

Architect.
Submission Criteria:
1. For Publication of a book containing a selection of architectural-
associated services and outsourcing works.
• 3d rendered Images – Architecture, Interior, Landscape, Infrastructure, etc. Any
type of project (built/unbuilt, proposed, competition, etc.) is welcomed.

• Architectural Illustrations, preferably digital media.

• Images and writeups regarding any innovation related to Architecture and

relevant industries.

• Samples (can be images) of CAD Conversion works, preferably international

projects and local Heritage projects.

• Submission formats will be shared later.

2. For Digital Multimedia Video Presentation & VR headsets.

• 3d rendered Animations – Architecture, Interior, Landscape, Infrastructure, etc.
Any type of project (built/unbuilt, proposed, competition, etc.) is welcomed.

• Any video Presentation related to Architectural graphics, innovation, simulations,

etc.

• 360 tour apps (for VR headsets) - a short demo video will be appreciated.

• Augmented reality apps (for VR headsets) - a short demo video will be appreciated.

• Submission formats will be shared later.

Selection/ Review Criteria:

A Committee will be formed with the experts for the selection/ review process of the
quality of the submitted works for both the book and multimedia presentation. The details
regarding this will be shared later.

• Those who will register for the UIA Congress, please send your registration
information to the official email (mail@iab.com.bd) of the Institute of Architects
Bangladesh (Attn: Mr. Didar Arifen, +8801635-400110) immediately. Otherwise,
their names will not be added to the list, which we will send to the Danish embassy
for visa purposes. We will send the list of participants' names to the embassy who
register before 31st March 2023.
